Norway too, at the end of april. Denmark as well, after easter. We'll see how this goes. We are still adviced to work from home if possible, and the restrictions lifted are that kindergarden and schools (1.-4. grade) is opening up, and also some services like hairdressers and physiotherapists...
I want to write about the chemistry at a later point, right now I'll just throw in that high EPA omega 3 is what has helped my brain fog the most. That and dropping eggs for a while (I can write about that as well, but I do think it might be a special case ;) ).
Besides d-ribose, why not increase protein intake from meat and dairy? I feel like I'm missing something when people talk about certain supplements. For carnitine I guess the main goal is to increase beta oxidation of fats for energy? With tryptophan I can think of many things it can do in the...
But not all problems that originate in the gut give gut symptoms, that's what's so frustrating about them. If the immune system is triggered by something in your food, but you don't have a typical gut symptom, who looks at your diet? To take an easy example.
My university has closed down today...
Hm, if the conference might be classed as "Videreutdanning" for working people, is there any chance students could get some credits/ECTS? I have no idea how that would work, but I wouldn't mind :P Although I might not be part of a health-care education by then.
The body also starts breaking down proteins to build glucose. This can happen both with fasting and with keto (in weight loss studies when comparing weight loss from keto to "normal caloric restriction", keto participants tend to lose more muscle mass and less fat than the controls.
I'm glad...
But fasting is more than just being extremly low carb, though. How can you know it's not another change you do that just also happen to be low carb? Other dietary components etc. Not doubting you, I'm just very interested to know what is going on and if it is achievable without the keto part. ;)...
Sorry for being OT, but this reminded me of the Dara O'Briain stand-up where he makes fun of flexibility as a type of fitness. "Yes I can touch the floor. I. Have. Knees."
Yes, it's problematic for many reasons. Although I wish somatic researchers would start caring about fatigue (chronic or otherwise), it's a symptom of many diseases and quite debilitating. I don't understand why it has not been deemed important enough to care about and we're left with people...
I honestly dislike the name "ME" more than CFS. Because it states a pathology we don't know is true. I get tired of patients commenting on articles about ME and stating it is inflammation in the brain, because "It's in the name!".
I've been able to be quite active in my remissions as long as I did not lift weights. Bodyweight exercises, hiking (I live in the northern part of Norway, we have tall mountains to climb), using a bike as my main mode of transportation and doing lots of uphill biking.. And then crash.
And perhaps other nutrients that improve blood flow?
What is somewhat frustrating (for me) is the fact that NO, a substance that blood vessel cells produce to relax and make the blood vessels larger to accomodate blood flow, can inhibit ATP production because NO can bind to proteins in the...
Too much vitamin E was also mentioned as something that could reduce restorative capacities of athletes in a study I read, I didn't check the source they provided, but sounds like something that could be relevant for us.
For vitamin E i definitely prefer natural source, it's easy to come by in...
I've brought it up in Norwegian fb group, and have seen others mention it as well.
I wonder if vitamin E, omega 3 or other nutrients positive for cell membranes can be of any help. I also think about the metabolomics study that found free heme in ME patients was significantly different than in...
Not unlikely. For a summer project there are a lot of limitations.
Yes. And the same goes for negative effects, like sleep issues. And it could also be closely linked to diet quality, like you say people can be in ketosis and eat rubbish. I'm not sure if there will be a larger study building on...
First of all. more studies using diet as intervention, please! Especially with measurements like these on exercise performance :D
@Hutan I believe they are refering to glycolysis when they are talking about "glycolytic energy production". In the introduction they mention increased lactate due...
I don't tolerate fasting all that well, so I wouldn't try it. Can't say I've seen any good studies on humans on this either, mostly it's been weight loss studies and all positive findings can be attributted to patients losing weight. Then again many studies also ask participants to drop...
