    Stamina levels before ME/CFS?

The hotel stuff was in my early 30s. The 5-years ago stuff was in my late 40s, just before I got ill.

    Stamina levels before ME/CFS?

Yes. I used to get the train to a hotel on Sunday evening, then Monday-Friday I would be with my business students from 8:15 to 21:00 or later - in the classroom, mealtimes, breaks, I was always "on" as the teacher. 4-5 days a week, get the train home, all weekend in the office preparing for the...

New German guideline for ME published today

Der Fatigatio e.V. Bundesverband Chronisches Erschöpfungssyndrom (CFS/CFIDS/ME) trauert um seine Vereinsvorsitzende Edelgard Klasing * 6. Juli 1958 † 1. Juli 2018 die völlig unerwartet und viel zu früh aus unserer Mitte gerissen wurde. Edelgard Klasing war eine außergewöhnliche...

Are ME/CFS Patient Organizations “Militant”?, 2018, Blease and Geraghty

"seriously threatened"? Who are the militants? If people with HIV/AIDS have the energy to run around throwing blood, invading offices etc it's understandable because they were going to die. If people with ME have the energy to raise their voice, let alone stand up and walk around, they "can't...

    Gay conversion therapy

Well it was either that or "bedridden".

UK CFS Patient Rediagnosed with Lyme

Articles like this are usually for publicity, either to further a career as a burlesque dancer, promote a self-help book about a miracle cure, or whatever. In this case she is trying to raise money - both the pictures have a "Just Giving" stamp on them, and there is a link to where you can...

    Gay conversion therapy

Well it's only an anecdote but I have a friend who suddenly discovered that he was mildly gay and was desperate to find a cure so underwent conversion therapy. It made him so serverely gay that he's now bedbound.

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

If I may continue my paranoid ramblings from earlier (I do think the most likely explanation is that Sharpe wrote "by" instead of "but" - but since when did a more plausible explanation stop a good conspiracy theorist ...) it appears that Sharpe could try to sow discord amongst sufferers, divide...

David Tuller: Trial By Error: Professor Sharpe’s Pre-Hearing Briefing for Monaghan

I was wondering whether the "by" belonged to the "led" before it, as in "led by ...". Hard to tell what it means, we shouldn't have to work it out.

David Tuller: Trial By Error: Professor Sharpe’s Pre-Hearing Briefing for Monaghan

Sorry to keep posting, but I was just slicing my banana into my muesli when the penny finally dropped. @dave30th - that'll be you he's talking about. Congratulations, Michael Sharpe has invented a whole new category just for you. He already has one for @Tom Kindlon et al (biased ME sufferer)...

David Tuller: Trial By Error: Professor Sharpe’s Pre-Hearing Briefing for Monaghan

And who are these non-patient activists who are trying to discredit science? How did they infiltrate us? And why? And does this get us off the hook now, or what?

David Tuller: Trial By Error: Professor Sharpe’s Pre-Hearing Briefing for Monaghan

Despite being poorly expressed, I think I have just realised what he is trying to say. Is the "(by not patients in general)" a claim that patient activist groups are being led by trouble-makers who are not genuine ME patients? If so, this is a new claim. So far being an ME sufferer has been a...

David Tuller: Trial By Error: Professor Sharpe’s Pre-Hearing Briefing for Monaghan

Perfect is "If I'd done my homework, I'd have passed the test" whilst knowing that the first 'd is for had and the second 'd is for would. And if they get that right I ask them "If you hadn't had pumpernickel for breakfast, what would you have had to have had?"

David Tuller: Trial By Error: Professor Sharpe’s Pre-Hearing Briefing for Monaghan

Of course it's entirely possible that Turdie Chalder said "it's ok Michael, you don't have to write my name, just write the PACE authors, that'll be fine, really", assuming that at least he'd be able to spell PACE properly.

David Tuller: Trial By Error: Professor Sharpe’s Pre-Hearing Briefing for Monaghan

Quite. Scientific writing is a thing - I have a friend who teaches courses on it. You would expect precision and accuracy to be second nature to Michael Sharpe if he was half the scientist he claims to be. It's also interesting that the briefing was not signed by the other PACE authors, just...

David Tuller: Trial By Error: Professor Sharpe’s Pre-Hearing Briefing for Monaghan

I am happy to unashamedly stickle. Especially when Michael Sharpe constructs a sentence that I could use to teach my beginners with: There is / there are, much and many, has and have, singular / plural, present perfect - all the classic mistakes Germans make when they start learning English...
