The Mighty: How My Life Has Changed Since I Developed ME/CFS

I was developing more empathy before I had ME, doing volunteer work teaching homeless teenagers once a week. I had to give it up and lie on the sofa with a headache instead. People who talk about the wonderful benefits of insight or whatever they've gained through illness never seem to compare...

Rethinking the treatment of CFS — a reanalysis and evaluation of findings from a recent major trial of GET and CBT (2018) Wilshire et al.

From Michael Sharpe: Is he trying to be funny? He's not seriously trying to imply that the authors were unduly selective in the choice of data to include in their analyses is he? Words almost fail me. It's not as if the authors wouldn't have gladly used the whole trial dataset, but somebody...

When I came down with M.E. as an adult my mood was rather low for a while. When I was adolescent I could be moody too, and I didn't have M.E. then. I wonder if they controlled for the above?

Mine just tell me to go away :( Yes, but it wasn't the adults using the actometers who cheated.

Well to be fair, she does allow children a voice in the design of her trials, so she has to safeguard against them fiddling the results.

There are no plans to close down this thread. The only reason why it would be closed would be if multiple and persistent rule breaches were occuring which made it impossible or too onerous to moderate. It has been lively and it has kept moderation busy. But it is an important issue upon which...

Monica Greco (draft for 2017 paper) Pragmatics of explanation : creative accountability and ‘medically unexplained symptoms’

Here is my artist statement: My work explores the relationship between the tyranny of ageing and life as performance. With influences as diverse as Nietzsche and Francis Bacon, new insights are generated from both constructed and discovered discourse. Ever since I was a pre-adolescent I have...
