PACE trial TSC and TMG minutes released

Thanks @Woolie (sorry if I seemed impatient. It's a bad trait)

PACE trial TSC and TMG minutes released

Would it be useful to add a link there? I can't do it myself, because I don't have the necessary permissions.

(Not a recommendation) CFS or where is my stocking?

You're doing it again! Some students write excellent MSc theses. I think he did his MSc in 1989. And who knows. It might have been a great, great MSc.

(Not a recommendation) CFS or where is my stocking?

It is. But SW is not an epidemiologist. He just did an MSc in it once. I've written a textbook on epidemiology! (well, sort of)

(Not a recommendation) CFS or where is my stocking?

It wasn't meant as one. Honest.

(Not a recommendation) CFS or where is my stocking?

Doing it the other way round on insufficient data can be just as bad.

(Not a recommendation) CFS or where is my stocking?

Oi! Nothing wrong with being an epidemiologist.

PACE trial TSC and TMG minutes released

I've put Tom's comments on the PACE trial protocol all together into a PDF (with ref links) for ease of access, with @Tom Kindlon 's permission. Hope this is useful. Let me know if you spot any glaring errors, and I shall fix forthwith. [ @Woolie - Is this suitable to be added as a resource in...

Presumably, you also choose how ill to be.

Another quote for my archive... Thanks, @Sarah Seems there is no cure for naivity.

Although that may be true about the interview itself, we still don't know who briefed RH. MS seems to be Spinmeister in Chief, but was it him or PW or SW?

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

Yep, they didn't. It's clear from the minutes they dropped it because they didn't know how to collect it properly or analyse it. See: https://www.s4me.info/threads/pace-trial-tsc-and-tmg-minutes-released.3150/page-20#post-63008

Can I just say that @Tom Kindlon is an absolute legend? I'm slowly working through his comments, and they are just so well researched and referenced, it's going to make things so much easier. And I wouldn't have even started on this without @JohnTheJack 's tenacity with the FOI requests...

As a slight aside... I'm currently going through some of White's publications from 20 years ago that @Tom Kindlon cited in his Protocol comments. (Thanks Tom!). It seems clear this is an example of sunk cost phenomenon. The PACE PIs have invested their careers in this, and can't admit now that...

Indeed. But we all need to be aware that there is nothing to stop anyone doing just that, apart from politeness. (I say that as someone who has come unstuck in the past when someone decided to share my thoughts on a platform I thought was private. I'm still dealing with the consequences of that.)

Sharpe: "That's how the illness is defined." No. That's how you've chosen to define it, Prof Sharpe. You've defined it by a measure that you have devised to be so amenable to subjective suggestion that you can easily (or not so easily *cough*) fix it and report you have fixed the underlying...
