COVID-19: UK volunteers to be deliberately exposed to COVID in world-first trial

I saw! Horrific! Why would they do that? I wonder what compensation will be offered when (& it is likely when, not if) some of them get long covid?

Migraine headaches in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS): Comparison of two prospective cross-sectional studies, Baraniuk et al, 2011

I’ve had migraines since childhood. They were never that frequent, and often associated with exposure to heat or bright light. Which means, I rarely go outside without a hat, and have never reacted well to hot environments. Getting ME almost 9 years ago didn’t seem to increase my migraines...

Trisha Greenhalgh on ME/CFS and Long Covid

I think I saw that tweet (tho I’m blocked now as part of her mass blocking) but if I remember correctly the tweet said something along the lines of her not liking the aggro, so she was going to block so she wouldn’t get death threats as she’d heard others had?? My memory might be wrong of course.

Paul Garner on Long Covid and ME/CFS - BMJ articles and other media.

“Through the advice and support of our wonderful ME community, one man has successfully avoided long term disability. If he dodged the bullet of ME/CFS, it's because we pushed him out of the way. We're kind of amazing like that. I love you all. #meawarenesshour #MECFS #LongCovid” Edited to add...

Trisha Greenhalgh on ME/CFS and Long Covid

I wasn’t blocked when I checked about an hour ago, but am now! :(

    Ketogenic diet

Keto helped me - I think. It has in no way been a cure, more a feeling that I do better. My step count didn’t improve much long term, if at all. However, I get fewer migraines, think I have a clearer head, and my appetite is definitely more consistent. However, I am probably now more “low...

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

Interesting - though it is talking about surgical masks rather than washable ones. I seem to remember reading that washing fabric masks separates the fibres making them more efficient, but I can’t think where I read that.

    NICE ME/CFS guideline - draft published for consultation - 10th November 2020

I second that. I’d also like to say that, in the absence of being able to get into discussions, I have found the various thoughts, experiences and opinions expressed on S4ME (& other online spaces where ME peeps gather) to be a real bonus. I’ll not comment further, but please know I am still...

NICE ME/CFS draft guideline - publication dates and delays 2020

@adambeyoncelowe It’s my understanding that we can’t really “discuss” the draft guideline - at least not in the way I would have done prior to being on the committee. I understand we must still refrain from expressing opinions on what the guideline says, and on how the committee reached the...

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

I made the mask from the video above. It’s quite quick to make, but I didn’t find it comfortable as it presses on my nose. Back to the old shaped version I’ve been making. ie this one

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

I’m going to try this method of mask making - it looks quick and easy:

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

Thank you @Jonathan Edwards, it’s difficult sometimes to untangle all the different factors at play. And of course there’s the wishful thinking part of me that really hoped this could be true!

Coronavirus - worldwide spread and control

I saw this thread on Twitter. Are we perhaps closer to herd immunity than we think?

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

Interesting! Here’s a useful explanation of blood groups: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/blood-groups/ Edit to add - I’m not sure the differences are great enough to draw this conclusion though!

NICE ME/CFS draft guideline - publication dates and delays 2020

I honestly don’t blame Jo Daniels for making her account private. My Twitter account is currently private too. The tweet has been seen, but it has also been taken down. I think it was removed fairly quickly. Twitter can be unforgiving, and is maybe too fast for considered writing.

UK - NICE guideline on Long Covid

Actually I was online at the time and saw it all play out. ;) Thank you though for making sure I saw it. :)

How do you cope with spreading yourself thin? :-(

There are simply no good answers are there!! And what works for one of us doesn’t work for all. I get frustrated watching my parents in their 80’s dash about jamming so much into each day - yet I am also pleased for them. And I count myself lucky that I was almost 50 before this hit, and that...
