What Doctor’s Don’t Tell You: Has Dr Mikovits found the cause of chronic fatigue?

And this should not be about the character of the researcher. We don’t tolerate ad hominem towards favoured scientists, likewise we should not indulge in such against those who are currently out of favour. And, about the article using “chronic fatigue” instead of CFS or ME - can we be sure who...

What Doctor’s Don’t Tell You: Has Dr Mikovits found the cause of chronic fatigue?

I suspect few dare say “retrovirus” out loud in the context of ME now. And I’m guessing that as with other areas of ME research, funding is hard to come by. XMRV all happened before I came down with ME, so I’m probably not fully up to speed, but one thing that struck me in the aftermath, was...

Thoughts on doctor honesty fom Bristol group.

I have come across this doctor before somewhere. I watched a long documentary he did. Trying to remember now what it was about. Could be cholesterol (and statins), or fats in diet. Must see if I can find it again. I thought the same as you - courageous and determined to see honest reporting .

Action for ME: The PACE trial and behavioural treatments for M.E. [position statement]

I see pacing as a means of preventing decline. I see no point in dangling a carrot called “increase” in front of patients who really need help to down size their lives! Only when I let go of “increase” did I slow the rate at which my health declined! But, no matter what I did, I couldn’t halt...

BMJ: Pressure grows on Lancet to review “flawed” PACE trial

Just a thought. Folk have been saying that Pharma trial regulations are incredibly thorough. Would a Pharma body be a useful, respected, arbitrator in judging PACE (and similar) trials? Sure the BPSers will say their trials can’t be judged to the same criteria as Pharma trials. Yet...

Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test Methodology for Assessing Exertion Intolerance in ME/CFS, 2018, Stevens et al

Not sure patients should be pressured into an assessment that could make them permanently worse, just to satisfy a disability assessment. I know I’d be too concerned about the harm this could cause me, to do it. :nailbiting:

Action for ME: The PACE trial and behavioural treatments for M.E. [position statement]

LOL... I see I'm not the only one trying to describe all this. Just seen your posts @Mithriel and @anniekim - which means I've been writing quite some time... Hope my lengthy post doesn't further confuse. xx

Action for ME: The PACE trial and behavioural treatments for M.E. [position statement]

AEROBIC versus ANAEROBIC respiration. This needs some clarification I think - I'll try! The first time I heard it said that our aerobic systems were broken, and that we needed to rely on our anaerobic respiratory pathways, I got confused, because in biology it is quite clear: humans cannot...

Action for ME: The PACE trial and behavioural treatments for M.E. [position statement]

I had a Twitter convo with Todd Davenport re Workwell’s use of the word “increase”. He said they would discuss it next time they all met. Seems they are in no hurry however. Sadly. Meh! Edit to add link to relevant thread

Watt from MRC defends PACE in letter to Times

This is welcome. It may take time to rebuild patient trust, but this statement from @Action for M.E. is positive news. Thank you.

Watt from MRC defends PACE in letter to Times

Having taught in both Further Education and Grammar Schools, I can tell you that I can remember many of my former students with fairly minor prompting - especially the opinionated ones, or those who worked particularly hard to achieve their results. Just contact him. You might be surprised.

    Ketogenic diet

My migraines go in waves of clusters, so difficult to say really - but now you mention it, I do seem to have had fewer since starting Low Carb in April. Note: I’m not always fully keto I think, but I usually fast 16hrs of each 24, and have cut out all bread, rice, pasta, potatoes [whaaaaaa]...
