NICE guideline on ME/CFS: robust advice based on a thorough review of the evidence, 2024, Barry et al.

Yet still have enough influence to continue delaying and diluting serious reform, and making it as costly and nasty and heart breaking as they can.

Petition: S4ME 2023 - Cochrane: Withdraw the harmful 2019 Exercise therapy for CFS review

Yes, this research, some of which we led, has been criticised by some, but it remains valid; That phrasing is how misdirection is done: To describe it as some is both true and highly misleading. Those some include the highest levels of medical science, in many different countries. e.g. IOM &...

Petition: Save Karen Gordon from Dying of Malnutrition and Dehydration due to NHS Failings

I think the overall long-term pattern is going to provide very most useful data. Short-term needs to looked at too, but one thing we don't have yet is good long-term tracking of these kind of variables. Building a collection of this kind of baseline data is done in other fields, like...

    Snakes and ladders: ME/CFS edition

Nah. All that business of testable predictions is just too much trouble, and the data might still say something you don't want it to. Why go to all that bother and risk when cooking the books can be done post-hoc. It's the enlightened methodology for the 21st century.

United Kingdom: Cases of people with ME/CFS with severe feeding problems, in the media

From what I have seen, no current strategy is going to make a difference. This is where we are at. Not only have the NICE guidelines not been allowed to deliver what is needed in the UK, they are being actively abused and perverted to block reform and progress, and insted keep things as they...

Is PEM triggered by physical exertion the same as worsening triggered by sensory stimuli, cognitive exertion or emotions? What are the implications?

Ibuprofen works well for me, but given a long history of serious reflux and associated Barret's esophagus, and mild hypertension and increasing gut troubles, I am reluctant to be taken it more than sparingly.

Could an exemplar specialist unit be set up for severely ill PwME?

Nice idea, but also risky given the offenders remain politically powerful.

Petition: S4ME 2023 - Cochrane: Withdraw the harmful 2019 Exercise therapy for CFS review

Yes, this research, some of which we led, has been criticised by some, but it remains valid; A profound and unresolved conflict of interest is not negated by merely admitting it.

George Monbiot on ME/CFS, PACE, BPS and Long Covid

This. We have all seen how shameless and ruthless they are. The closer they get to losing their empires, reputations, status, incomes, etc, the more so they will become. It is difficult to start dealing with a thing until it is named, until it is made overt. And worse. ––––––––– And why is...

That remains one of our most powerful tools at this stage. Getting stuff on the relevant public record, so nobody in the relevant positions of power can say they were not informed about the problem.
