When I've gone over my mental limit my brain feels strained and very tired. When I feel like this I usually can't fit one more mental task in, no matter how small. I also feel very fatigued physically, often weak, and uncoordinated.
Thanks @Mij for this.
I read a CBC article that said medicine has known of other chronic illnesses caused by viruses. That article was also about COVID.
On the one hand it is hopeful that medical science is recognizing the terrible and sometimes permanent impact of what we usually view as...
I couldn't find when this study started in relation to vaccines coming out
It seems this study would have carried on into the time when vaccines were available.
Does anyone know?
COVID vaccines were available in Canada by about mid December 2020. I think they were available somewhat earlier...
So doesn't look good for those with asthma then...:(
Any comments on this study's quality?
Interesting in that perhaps a number of pwME have similar factors that have brought about ME post viral episode.
More than 30 years ago, someone I know was exhausted all the time. They were advised their hemoglobin was good, so their iron level was good. Turns out their ferritin was very low - in the single digits.
Fast forward 30 years, and doctors are still just testing hemoglobin etc., and not...
Some pwME say probiotics help. Of course there are many types and quality varies.
IME, these are not permanent fixes, nor even long-term ones, as the modest effects wear off pretty much daily. But at least it's something for some pwME.
There is a CBC TV program about autism that discusses...
Some government regulations state people who seek LC care must have had a positive PCR test.
With Omicron, testing has been overwhelmed. Rules have changed as to who gets tested. Many with COVID may never get the required PCR test. That's of course a problem when it comes to qualifying for LC...
Thank you @chrisb. This is interesting. And is an example of how very long it takes for medical science to overcome beliefs that the fault lies entirely with some patients when they become ill.
I think it is sad that neurasthenia patients haven't been "cleared of the charges" they were...
Good article which will as @strategist says reach some who don't know about this issue.
Interesting, that even mild COVID symptoms can lead to Long COVID which turns one's health and life upside down. That's how EBV was for me: not dramatic, not horrible, but left me with debilitating ME for...
Thanks for pointing this out @Andy.
I am certain, as you say, this will indeed happen. It will be an easy work around for a number of physicians who don't agree with the new NICE guidelines.
Same goes for Canada. Last I looked, we don't seem to have our own national ME guidelines. Physicians...
FND is just a " fancy" term for crazy.
If pwME were treated with dignity and fairness by the medical system, medicine would see many in our community do not have MUS or FND. Brain imaging might show a number in our community have hypoperfusion. And, perhaps other issues would be found...
Hi @Andy
Thanks very much.
Interesting the researchers found such a number of pwME who don't have syncopal spells as they term it. My understanding is a very significant number of us have this.
Nonetheless, it will be good to see this study replicated.
Thank you to these researchers for this study.
However, I couldn't find the case definition they used.
It makes me wonder which definition they used, as they found 30 pwME who do not have syncopal spells.
It is frustrating that there seem to not have been enough studies to convince a...
I have taken uniquinol, a more bioavailable form of Co Q10. I don't find it has ever helped my sleep.
I take sublingual melatonin at bedtime. That helps, but I don't think melatonin is considered as mitochondrial support.
