Great to see this quiz!
I got question #5 wrong.
Other than dyspnea in question 1, it was difficult to choose between Myalgia and unrefreshing sleep. Although I know the IOM cited unrefreshing sleep as one of the main symptoms.
And, I think it's more frequently the case pwME experience...
Good to answer to the BPS argument that OI is caused by deconditiong, by noting LC participants were highly active before LC.
That's what many pwME have been saying for decades about our own disease.
Thank you very much to these researchers.
Interesting, but didn't see a case definition in the criteria.
If the inclusion criteria was only fatigue as the "major and most outstanding symptom", and not PEM and other highlighted symptoms, such as OI and cognitive difficulty, then it's unclear as to whether this research was actually...
I suppose BPS researchers study diseases such as MS, Parkinson's and ALS etc., digging for correlations between thoughts, emotions, and physical symptoms.
But perhaps they more tenaciously cling on to ME...
Oh and yeah, so we didn't find anything, so let's keep at it, eh!
"...multiple somatic symptoms is associated with higher rates of psychopathology..."
Here again, was any brain imaging done? My limited understanding is that neurological conditions can cause multiple symptoms.
It would be interesting to know how many people with neurological conditions of...

Here again, it seems a low bar for entry into CFS diagnosis.
If 4 out of 14 points is all it takes to fit a diagnosis, it appears many would fit a lot of different diagnoses.
Even though physicians may spend a lot of their days with people who know less about medicine than they do, this doesn't mean doctors know more than everyone about everything.
However as the initial post indicates, there are a number of factors that lead doctors to over estimate their skills...
"...without necessarily searching for an underlying cause", is IMO very risky. Consider the level of misdiagnoses discussed elsewhere on this Forum: about 40 to 50% in some cases.
The practice/theory of not necessarily searching for an underlying cause has of course evolved into don't bother...
Oh boy, @MSEsperanza
I'd love to do that too - tell those health care workers what they missed. And, the nasty abusive ones....well, I'd love to give them an earful.
Yes, @Andy, totally agree. The first 5 points are insightful and realistic. Perhaps even a bit humble. But that last point...
Follow up is a pointy topic for me.
In more voluntary situations where one can consult a naturopathic doctor, or another form of holistic practitioner, if you don't...
