Video: How dietitians and the wider MDT can help people with ME/CFS, Helen Baxter of The 25% ME Group

I can't believe that it just continues on and on after all that has been exposed about it. That the guilty are able to keep perpetuating the same shitty abuse and lies with a straight face, and go on getting rewarded for it. Nobody with the power to stop it can still claim lack of available...

A woman from Canada with severe ME has been approved for MAiD – but she wants to live

I'd go further and say they are not only passively failing to deliver the necessary support, they are actively hostile to doing so and working hard to continue denying it all to us. Not all of them, of course. There are always good people in any broken system or institution trying to get it...

Five-factor personality traits and functional somatic disorder: A systematic review and meta-analysis 2025 Lamm et al

re: arbitrary assigning of causation They know what they are doing. One of the most consistent features of psychosomatic studies is the lack of discussion about and accounting for the serious problems and dangers with assigning causation without adequate testing, which they rarely, if ever, do...

Petition: S4ME 2023 - Cochrane: Withdraw the harmful 2019 Exercise therapy for CFS review

I agree with this. It is an important relevant fact that might get more people's attention and support.

UK Government ME/CFS Delivery Plan consultation

Recommendations to make assisted dying available are required. Significant difference in meaning. But still concerning.

When beauty is but skin deep: dealing with problematic studies in systematic reviews 2021 - Cochrane

Cochrane can whip up a mighty fine broth of words, but the taste of it is still shit.

Impacts of the 2024 change in US government on ME/CFS and Long Covid

Regular exercise has long been a standard core recommendation in the Australian health system, and I would be very surprised if it was much different in the US, UK, Europe, or anywhere else. Same for (appropriate) dietary supplements, like calcium, folate, iron, etc. Along with a bunch of...

Brief Outpatient Rehabilitation Program for Post-COVID-19 Condition, Nerli et al, 2024 - with comment from T. Chalder

All subjective self-report. 95% CI, 4.3-14.2 That wide confidence interval on the primary outcome does not inspire confidence in the claimed result. Borderline result, at best. The nocebo effect (expectation of harm) is hugely powerful. Evidence required. And they will go right on doing it...

Cochrane Review: 'Exercise therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome', Larun et al. - New version October 2019 and new date December 2024

I think this is the real reason they canned the ME/CFS review. If they let that one get corrected properly it will have profound consequences for all psycho-behavioural reviews, as the whole field is corrupted by the same basic shitty pseudo-methodology. It is not even that much. They can only...

Petition: S4ME 2023 - Cochrane: Withdraw the harmful 2019 Exercise therapy for CFS review

Whatever shreds of doubt there were left about how utterly corrupted Cochrane have become by the psychosomatic cult, they have been completely removed. Gutless, dishonest, abusive hacks. Particularly cruel to do this just before Christmas.

Exercise rehabilitation in post COVID-19 patients: a randomized controlled trial of different training modalities 2024 Sick et al

It's like the lessons they are learning from NICE, et al, are how to avoid robust methodology and actually subjecting their claims to adequate testing.

News from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean

Today I learned that the Dutch have a colony in the Caribbean. No reason why not, I guess. But for the usual accidents of history modern Australia might well have been speaking Dutch. Or French, Portuguese, or Spanish.

The Impact of Long COVID on Employment and Well-Being: A Qualitative Study of Patient Perspectives, 2024, MacEwan

We don't. But apparently the medical profession seems hell bent on doing so.

Unfavourable glucose metabolism is associated with functional somatic disorders. A cross-sectional general population-based study: 2024 Dantoft, Fink+

I get the sore dry throat too. Pretty much a permanent feature now. Plus sore and firm, and slightly enlarged glands, mainly on the left side for some reason. Maybe complete coincidence, but I had a manual prostate examination many years ago and the doctor said it was normal size but quite...

Unfavourable glucose metabolism is associated with functional somatic disorders. A cross-sectional general population-based study: 2024 Dantoft, Fink+

I get annual bloods, and with the exception of ALP, they are nearly always normal. The exceptions have been triglycerides and fasting glucose, which have only been marginally high a couple of times each, and the more specific diabetes test has been negative on the two high glucose results. For...
