Closing down of PoTS clinics in the UK

I will tweet them and see if I can get a response.

Closing down of PoTS clinics in the UK

Well, it's not good that three clinics are apparently closing, especially when rates are rising, but I would suggest changing the title of this thread to something more accurate, as we don't have evidence that all of them are closing, and it might scare people.

The HERITAGE study (Health Effects fRom Infection sequelae: Tailoring services and Advancing GuidancE)

I'm suprised she is not listed as an author because I believe she is one of the more active members of BACME and a lot of this dysrgulation stuff has come from the Yorkshire Fatigue Clinic, where she works. She is herself a GP with special interest.

Here is the NIHR award page: https://fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/NIHR174857 Note that Vikki McKeever of BACME is part of this project.

bodysymptoms.org: Postlaunch evaluation and update, 2025, Saunders et al

It doesn't matter if the explaination is correct or not. A key part of this approach is the belief that just telling patients stuff, whether it's actually true/verifiable or not, can help. I think they call it psychoeducation.

UK BACME ME/CFS Guide to Therapy 2025

This has excellent anti-BPS sh*tposting potential, were we ever to go down that route.

Yes, important point. Once you drop those fundamental tenets (deconditioning and fear avoidance), the whole house of cards collapses.

Yeah, they just renamed their Youtube channel. Nothing new.

    October 2025 IACFS/ME Conference

Generally agree, but this one stood out. It sort of makes sense. I am big believer in focusing on the ME brain, and this seems like a good lead that could tie together seemingly disparate clues.

Yes, the lead author and Robinson are both on this recent paper from the Stanford groups: https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2426564122

Epstein-Barr virus reprograms autoreactive B cells as antigen-presenting cells in systemic lupus erythematosus, Younis et al., 2025

Editor’s Summary Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has been making waves as a candidate driver of diseases like multiple sclerosis and Long Covid. It has also long been linked to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), although the “why” behind this link has not been defined. Here, Younis et al. provide...

    Visual Processing

You've probably come across my threads here. I have quite severe visual processing problems. I have a bad case of 'visual snow syndrome' which is much more than seeing static. The most disabling symptom for me is afterimages (palinopsia). It's another condition that is not well understood and is...

Review The effects of antidepressants on cardiometabolic and other physiological parameters: a systematic review and network meta-analysis 2025 Pillinger+

Probably a worthwhile study. I don't think the average GP is clued-up about the different side effect profiles of anti-depressants, aside from the most obvious stuff. They just seem to have their own 'favourites' that they feel comfortable prescribing.

Rapid recovery from all symptoms of severe ME/CFS by treating proprioception dysfunction syndrome: A case study, 2018(?), Da Silva et al.

I don't really know enough about proprioception but it seems anything that invovles the brain's processing of signals can be affected, and this is just one part of the puzzle for some patients.

We've discussed this case previously here: https://www.s4me.info/threads/uk-dr-sarah-myhill.18699/post-372441 I can't remember the reason why it's in the Myhill thread, but there was a reason! EDIT: The author references Dr Myhill frequently in the website article, and it seems he may have...
