UK: #JusticeforME fundraising for legal case for UK Government to provide specialist ME/CFS medical care

They are mounting legal challenges on areas of the ME Delivery Plan where such challenge is possible, I thought?

What empirical evidence is there that heart-rate monitoring helps avoid PEM?

I think a meta-analysis of all heart rate studies to see whether Workwell make well-founded claims would be good I think a meta-analysis of “PEM prevention/mgmt studies” would also be useful. The question relating to both, thanks to @Sasha for raising it, is there science behind the assertions...

What empirical evidence is there that heart-rate monitoring helps avoid PEM?

I can only speak to myself but my heart rate jumps up when I go upright, and stays up until I rest. To get it to do that when lying down I would need to be told something devastating and extremely upsetting. The more I do, the easier it is for my heart rate to go too fast. So if I went out...

What empirical evidence is there that heart-rate monitoring helps avoid PEM?

I found this am sure we had a thread on it https://www.robots.ox.ac.uk/~mosb/public/pdf/3535/Aitken%20et%20al.%20-%202024%20-%20Smartphone-based%20monitoring%20of%20heart%20rate%20variability%20and%20resting%20heart%20rate%20predicts%20variability%20in.pdf

What empirical evidence is there that heart-rate monitoring helps avoid PEM?

I think that if you look at the workwell foundation info, they are claiming that keeping heart rate low leads to less PEM. The document is here and there are only two studies cited. They refer to the 2 day CPET test. https://workwellfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/HRM-Factsheet.pdf I...

I mean it hurts to bend my legs afterwards and they burn and seize and are stiff.

What empirical evidence is there that heart-rate monitoring helps avoid PEM?

I can go over it by drying a dish. It’s all relative. I’d imagine if I was severe/very severe I’d go over it if someone started banging around or told me sad news.

What empirical evidence is there that heart-rate monitoring helps avoid PEM?

If I recall correctly, Visible data was used by someone and they're claiming they can “predict” crashes. Maybe Visible themselves, or Putrino? Whatever it was, over a year ago, I wasn’t convinced and I like my Visible a lot. Personally I agree with the above- it broadly shows you want is...

Distinguish ADHD symptoms from ME/CFS symptoms?

I know a few men who are more like the “ADHD in Women” I doubt there’s a difference, probably just that a certain ADHD type was ignored until it became clear, was seen in women first just like the hyper-cant sit still type was recognised in men (and thought to be all that ADHD was for a time).

Distinguish ADHD symptoms from ME/CFS symptoms?

Sometimes if I have the time and energy, I like to let my brain run riot and bounce around, half-thinking about 5 unrelated things at once. Writing half a note, thinking of something, writing another note, reading the notes back and not even remembering them. Other times having a “crash”is...

Distinguish ADHD symptoms from ME/CFS symptoms?

You may not be a fan but I like the little cartoon slides people make on Instagram, see examples below. They are good for prompting areas to think about. It was the “finishing people’s sentences” for me! I can’t help it. I hate doing it but I still do it! Also I read ADDitude magazine online...

Distinguish ADHD symptoms from ME/CFS symptoms?

Your answers align with what I was thinking…the ADHD usually in Women is the Attention Deficit part, or Hyperactive Attention. It’s much more related to executive functioning issues. If you are fairly intelligent you will have learned what is expected of you, and found ways to “make it happen”...

Distinguish ADHD symptoms from ME/CFS symptoms?

I think I am undiagnosed adhd. I think the fatigue and exhaustion of ME makes it harder to compensate/mask the chaos, pre-ME I was doing more that twice as much work as a regular person to produce the same outcome (I.e turning up in clean clothes, knowing what was going on and where I needed to...

BBC Claims That Brain Retraining Can Alter MRI Scans

They even said on the film that there are fluctuations at different times though. Also stress makes the amygdala bigger and mediatation made it smaller but she didn’t think she was stressed at all to start with. Why does everything have to be a binary opposition and a quid pro quo.

Open UK BACME tube feeding survey 2025, closes 30th September 2025

I hate this “get out of jail card” every long rambling survey has adopted “We realise this may be difficult/draining for people to complete, but” Aka …we can’t be bothered designing something with you in mind, so here’s the usual old nonsense, don’t accuse us of not caring
