Prusty for sure gets face time with Ron Davis due to his social media presence I’d say, which is akin to getting funding. Which bothers me a bit since I spent a lot of time raising money and having family and friends donate to OMF.

He can’t because then he wouldn’t be able to make weekly YouTube videos on it. He apparently is still writing the paper, but decides to present on it weekly. I have to say having science “influencers” have got to be some of the worst outcomes for this disease. People personally investing in who...

Another video stating activated microglia as fact without data, though this time he lets slip only 35% of people with ME/CFS have (according to him) activated microglia. If this is his new results I’m unimpressed. Also in what world is injecting endotoxin the same as ME/CFS. How many more...

Preprint Initial findings from the DecodeME genome-wide association study of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, 2025, DecodeMe Collaboration

I tried looking into this, seems like you can use FINEMAP to create the source file needed for credible sets. Then I ran into the problem with FINEMAP needing an LD matrix... which seems to come from a large file of people with European descent? This is all very outside of my wheel house, I'm...

Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS): a common underlying cause for all "chronic complex illnesses"? (ME/CFS, fibro, GWI, etc.)

I'm not sure if this is the right place to use anecdotal reports as evidence for a certain theory, as it does not provide meaningful scientific discussion. Along with that, this anecdotal evidence points to having sleep apena, then getting treated for sleep apena improves quality of life.

Pyridostigmine Improves Hand Grip Strength in Patients with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, 2025, Scheibenbogen et al

I wasn’t so keen on beta blockers. 1. I have a low resting heart rate so it was not advised to lower it with beta blockers further. 2. At the time I had read about potential low cerebral blood flow in ME/CFS. My thought was that maybe my increased heart rate was trying to get more blood to my...

Do you have fever as a part of PEM?

Want to echo felt feverish but no under the tongue measured fever. Surprising at first when I first got sick that’s for sure, was convinced my readings would show fever as it felt exactly like that. Usually right before or after I had pushed to hard, then continuing into PEM

Pyridostigmine Improves Hand Grip Strength in Patients with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, 2025, Scheibenbogen et al

Same. Mestinon 3x a day 60mg since December 2024. Quality of life improvements are substantial when your heart isn’t going ballistic during simple tasks such as cooking and showers (still have to use stool). I still get PEM, I think it sets my threshold higher. I don’t want to make broad PEM...

Can Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT be used to produce useful information?

I think with enough data they were hoping it would be emergent. Genie3 world consistency was an emergent property of more data in …. So there may be some value in the idea “it can just happen” but yes it is hope at this point.

Can Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT be used to produce useful information?

This is so funny to me, a few weeks ago before GPT-5 everyone was still a AI futurist. One bad model and stalled take off and now everyone’s a downer. I doubt this has changed the minds of true LLM AGI believers like Sam, theil, etc

Can Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT be used to produce useful information?

Alpha go is entirely different than LLM’s in architecture. Not really a great comparison if as were talking about LLM’s here. For LLM’s to be true AGI there is a hope that with enough data “reasoning” will become an emergent property, possibly even consciousness, similar to the old Chinese room...

The symptom signaling theory of ME/CFS involving neurons and their synapses

Rheumatic fever and Post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis also do this I believe, where they last months then resolve. They seem to be autoimmune in nature but don’t develop into full autoimmunity for some reason. Lots of people talk about post viral illnesses but I think it’s good to bring...

The symptom signaling theory of ME/CFS involving neurons and their synapses

How does this hypothesis account for the waxing and waning of symptoms in severity level? As in people going from mild to severe, back to mild, repeat. I remember some discussion of autoimmune diseases following a similar cycle, with periods of increased symptoms.

The symptom signaling theory of ME/CFS involving neurons and their synapses

I don’t know for you but unrefreshing sleep was the first thing I noticed. Absolute 180 even when I was very mild in the beginning, I wonder if the build up over time of poor sleep makes everything worse. Slowly as we aren’t able to reset the other symptoms appear due to a “clog” from our...

Can Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT be used to produce useful information?

I’d just like to add overall it really matters which model you are running things through. Paying for a deep research model from google or chatGPT is a different ball park than their free tier models, I’d say most examples ppl see are these free models which rehash just the top links of...

Does anyone else get a runny nose, sneezing, coughing etc during PEM?

This is one of my “sentinel” symptoms that I’ve pushed to hard. Runny nose and messed up sinuses, especially at night the day of, into the following day of PEM. Never colored always clear discharge.

List of causation hypothesis for follow up after DecodeME

@DMissa not sure if this is the right place to post this, but if you’re doing any high throughput screeen automation I’m happy to donate my time. I’m an automation engineer with 7+ years of experience in biotech specializing in high throughput screening on liquid handlers: Hamilton, Beckman...

Circulating cell-free RNA signatures for the characterization and diagnosis of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, 2025, Gardella+

Out there but could this be related to the “crimson crescent” in the oropharynx region. Some wacko CFS doc I saw in the beginning of my disease looked in my throat and told me I had it and all his CFS patients do…. Googling it there’s very mixed results on it it’s actually a ME/CFS thing. So I...

[IgG] Complexes from infectious ME/CFS, including post-COVID ME/CFS Disrupt Cellular Energetics and Alter Inflammatory Marker Secretion, 2026, Prusty+

Isn’t that classic p-hacking? Our first hypothesis didn’t significantly provide results since some cells didn’t fragment so we narrowed our search window and now the women’s group is extremely significant with all mitochondrial fragmentation. Again I’d like to know how they choose the 10 cells...
