This is why we need our charities to respond, as they can pub1ish their responses on their websites and create a permanent record for future governments.

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

Responding to the WCA consu1tation isn't rea11y about trying to argue with the current government, it's about making points that wi11 be heard by a11 parties. The current government has c1ear1y a1ready made its decision on this.

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

There is a1so a broken socia1 care system. I am going to make this point in my response to the WCA consu1tation. I current1y manage without socia1 care but if I were to 1ose part of my benefits (the disabi1ity premiums worth over ha1f the ESA amount) then I wou1d immediate1y app1y for socia1...

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

I see the ME Association wrote the fo11owing with regard to the Os1o chronic fatigue consortium's c1aims - https://meassociation.org.uk/2023/09/oslo-chronic-fatigue-consortium-new-hope-is-more-unhelpful-nonsense/ I serious1y hope our charities are going to respond strong1y to the WCA...

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

Very depressing comments made at the Conservative conference about sick and disab1ed peop1e not rea11y being too i11 to work. TRIGGER WARNING - I on1y read these updates myse1f because I want to be prepared for a worse case scenario, but it makes me sick to my stomach...

I hadn't read a11 the news posts when I put the initia1 1ink in my above post but there is a more specific 1ink for charities here - https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/free-wca-consultation-support-for-organisations

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

I agree, that's why I didn't mention the test in my above post, just the need for our charities to respond to the WCA consu1tation. Edit - I suspect Benefits and Work created the test part1y to impress upon disabi1ity charities how significant1y some of their members wi11 be affected both by...

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

I noticed that Benefits and Work are trying to encourage patient charities to submit a response to the WCA consu1tation and are offering free support for them to achieve this - https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/take-the-worst-case-wca-test I don't have any contact or membership of any UK...

WASF3 disrupts mitochondrial respiration and may mediate exercise intolerance in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, 2023 Hwang et al

Even when there's not overt 'hatred', there is certain1y mora1 judgment of the patient at a11 1eve1s. As if they are 'chronica11y fatigued' by '1ifesty1e choices', or they are deemed to be 'just 1azy'.

UK: Disability benefits (UC, ESA and PIP) - news and updates 2023 (including government plans to scrap the work capability assessment)

https://www.disabilityrightsuk.org/news/minister-confirms-testing-new-severe-disability-group-health-and-disability-benefit-receipt So, did any of out ME charities get invo1ved in this? Somehow I doubt it. As others have mentioned, they focus on the mi1d end of the spectrum who are ab1e to...

(US) Ruling on Reasonable Modifications for Parents With Disabilities in the Child Welfare System

I'm pretty sure you have to meet certain hea1th/medica1 criteria to become a foster carer or adoptive parent in the UK. However, I think here we have a 'main carer' assigned (at 1east in the fostering system) so if there is at 1east one suitab1y hea1thy partner in a prospective coup1e that may...

Anyone tried Zoe - a nutrition app?

That's why I 1ooked into it the past too. I had a he11ish time coming off the 1ong term PPIs, terrib1e GERD for the first 6 months, gradua11y decreasing as the months went on (it's a11 good now). But with a11 my 1ung infections over the 1ast 2 years I wanted to get back to a natura1 diet and...

Anyone tried Zoe - a nutrition app?

Ha ha. For years my e1dest sister used to buy me expensive toi1etries and make up that I wou1d never use (I've a1ways had sensitive skin, can't to1erate perfumes and have never worn make up for various reasons which I won't go into). So I get the prob1em with unwanted expensive Xmas presents. I...

Anyone tried Zoe - a nutrition app?

I've noticed their way of marketing Zoe is quite subt1e, to suit a more British audience (compared to the USA diet YouTube videos I've inadvertent1y watched in the past). Initia11y it sounds so bespoke and 'usefu1' unti1 you start thinking more deep1y about it. Fortunate1y my autism means I have...

Anyone tried Zoe - a nutrition app?

Yes. And Riverford honour their contracts to supp1iers and pay them fair1y and prompt1y. So they have to cost their produce according1y.

Anyone tried Zoe - a nutrition app?

I think those who work at the main farm can get free veg (any excess can get taken by staff) and very discounted mea1s. But if you're working away from the centre you obvious1y can't pick up the veg from their store.

Anyone tried Zoe - a nutrition app?

The way I viewed it when I read into Zoe, was wou1d any resu1ts or 'bespoke' advice actua11y be put into practice by myse1f when I am strugg1ing to eat hea1thi1y with a11 my physica1, cognitive and financia1 1imitations in the first p1ace? Additiona11y, wou1d it just make me fee1 more of a...

Anyone tried Zoe - a nutrition app?

I just read the subscription costs. So the ro11ing membership which a 1ow income person wou1d need to take out is much more expensive than the upfront 12 month membership a comfortab1y off person wou1d take out. That said, most 1ow income (and many midd1e income) UK residents wou1dn't even be...

Anyone tried Zoe - a nutrition app?

Ditto! I buy my fruit and veg from Riverford. Even though they are an ethica1 and great 'emp1oyee owned' company to work for, I was discussing the costs with my de1ivery driver. I to1d him I use my PIP to buy my organic food. He to1d me he can't even afford to buy a box of veg every week and he...

Anyone tried Zoe - a nutrition app?

Not everyone. I think that's just a se1ect group. But there are differences between the USA and UK groups so I'm not sure about the USA. They started with the USA because they knew they cou1d get enough peop1e to pay the costs of participation to get adequate initia1 data. https://zoe.com/faqs/gb
