I want to get the Novavax vaccine as soon as the updated version is available. I didn't know the FDA had approved it yesterday. That's great news.
The article says it will be shipped in prefilled syringes. That should make it easy for pharmacies to administer it. I don't remember the details...
@hellytheelephant, I love your blog and appreciate what you say it's free from!
One of your images is the cover of Matt Haig's book Reasons to Stay Alive. I haven't read that, but his novel The Humans was really uplifting, so incisive and funny. I'll give Reasons to Stay Alive a try, too.
I find gluten-free bread disappointingly soft. Without gluten, there's no chew. Occasionally, I'll make a keto gluten-free coconut-flour bread, which I like more than any GF bread I've ever bought.
The FDA has just approved the drug donanemab, to be sold under the brand name Kisunla by Eli Lilly. It is supposed to work by reducing sticky amyloid plaque buildup in the brain.
I remember a couple of articles about donanemab in the New York Times last year and also earlier this year. It seems...
Years ago, a biofeedback and neurofeedback therapist taught me a really simple mind/body technique to lessen the perception of pain. She didn't use psychobabble or insulting terms such as catastrophising my pain. She just said this technique could lessen the pain by making me feel more distant...
I wouldn't want my stylist giving mental health advice. She's the queen of conspiracy theories.
It does seem like it could be good for stylists to get trained in recognizing possible skin cancers on the scalp or back of the neck, as long as they didn't diagnose. If they saw something of...
I have dry eyes, not from Sjogren's or LPR, but from year-round allergies. Genteal Severe Eye Gel is an over-the-counter product that works great for me. It's one my eye doctor told me about.
I didn't have a good experience with modafinil at all. It did give me energy, but I also felt agitated. Also, my nose got stuffy to the point where it felt like it was closed for business. My doctor said a couple of his other patients reported extremely stuffy noses from it.
I agree that it's...
The New York Times has an article today about how to mitigate the effects the next day after a bad night's sleep. This reader comment captures my frustration with many articles on sleep. It's from a reader named Connie:
"I’m tired (pardon the pun) of being bombarded by these types of articles...
I take Belsomra (Suvorexant), which is in the same class as Quivivq. I take it every other night, alternating it with Trazodone since these meds work better for me if I don't take them on consecutive nights.
I haven't had any problems with Belsomra, no nightmares or next-day sedation. My sleep...
I stopped having acupuncture treatments because the results I'd have after sessions were inconsistent, but I'll never forget the 1st session. I went into a profoundly relaxed state and saw in my mind's eye a train in India with passengers who were all cows and humans who were providing services...
When I went to a state-run dispensary in Seattle, it was staffed by budtenders, who were really well informed. I wouldn't have known what to buy, either, if I hadn't had guidance.
I asked for a product to help with pain and inflammation that wouldn't get me really high, and the woman helping me...
Interesting article. What's appealing about using salt water gargles and nasal irrigation to mitigate covid symptoms is that these treatments are easy, inexpensive, and shouldn't have much, if any, side effects.
Of course, with nasal irrigation, you have to use common sense and use either...
I have a traditional Medicare plan with a Plan G supplement and a Humana drug plan. I got Paxlovid about 6 weeks ago to have on hand for traveling, and there was no charge. When I got Paxlovid last November, there was no charge, either. I hope this remains the case for my insurance.
Thanks, @Mij, but the vaccines link showed no pharmacies within a hundred miles of me. The Novavax 2023 approval in the U.S. is very new here. What about in Canada? Do you guys have the updated Novavax available there?
