BMJ: Chronic fatigue syndrome and Long Covid, moving beyond the controversy, 2021, Newman

In this bizarre text which obviously serves no purpose but to attack us for no other reason than we exist, Godlee actually referred to and linked to Chew-Graham's article on the horrible consequences of gaslighting to long haulers and that's just such a bizarre mobius strip of confused...

BMJ: Chronic fatigue syndrome and Long Covid, moving beyond the controversy, 2021, Newman

Maybe that's a hint to that but I remember a few months ago Henrik posted a weird thread responding to someone with Long Covid telling them that if they ever are near Oxford they should go see Sharpe and have a chat with him about this whole recovering from fatigue thing. I assume Henrik and...

BMJ: Chronic fatigue syndrome and Long Covid, moving beyond the controversy, 2021, Newman

It's marked as commissioned to the BMJ so they had to solicit and pay for it, no other explanation. Which itself is inexplicable given how poor of a job it does at summarizing the facts, this is not journalism, not the regular kind and even less scientific. But more importantly it is also...

BMJ: Chronic fatigue syndrome and Long Covid, moving beyond the controversy, 2021, Newman

Somehow, Fiona Godlee has published an op-ed (it's linked a few comments down) with no purpose other than to attack us. Just like there is no clear point being made in this commissioned text here, Godlee's text has no point or substance, seems only to be a vehicle to attack us. None of this is...

Developing an Online Program for Self-Management of Fatigue, Pain, and Urgency in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, 2021, Moss-Morris ,Windgassen et al

Uhhhh. Words. Meaning. Do they simply not matter anymore? Gauging everything on ICU setting is absurd.

Systematic Review of Mind-Body Interventions to Treat Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, 2021, Ardestani et al

I don't understand why they only got 7 studies out of this. There are hundreds of them going back decades, including years of use in standard practice in many countries. What kind of joke profession is this? A field in a perpetual state of amnesia where neither criticism not accountability...

Stuart Ritchie, science journalist, articles on science fraud and open science

More could have been made of the fact that Horton's behavior towards critics of the Wakefield paper has been the same as with PACE. A pattern of misbehavior means a lot here, especially what it implies for PACE, that he's wrong about it. But whatever it's starting to show the cracks in the armor.

News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

Looks like the use of a limited denominator is all the rage these days. When standards are lowered all you get in outcome is lowered standards. Long covid military rehab programme 'helping to save careers' https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-57599256 Look at the sleights of...

BMJ: Chronic fatigue syndrome and Long Covid, moving beyond the controversy, 2021, Newman

Obviously the idea that a shady professor of medicine just volunteers work for a giant insurance company that just happens to repackage those ideas to make money is beyond laughable.

BMJ: Chronic fatigue syndrome and Long Covid, moving beyond the controversy, 2021, Newman

Until she admits having been wrong, having done harm and apologizes for it I will take anything Chew-Graham writes as raging hypocrisy from which she will pull a Garner. You can't go from prominent HIV denier to respectable AIDS researcher anymore than you can flip this narrative upside down...

BMJ: Chronic fatigue syndrome and Long Covid, moving beyond the controversy, 2021, Newman

This article is obviously not important enough to have this kind of derivative work so clearly it's being pushed as part of a campaign. Likely SMC again.

    Requests for information/papers/sources/documentation

The writer who penned yesterday' BMJ piece lauding the ME-BPS model seems not have done much of an effort researching it but may be open to taking facts into account so let's see, seems surprised that it also affects kids ("with fatigue", ugh, whatever). I saw several in passing and that...

Data suggest severe pediatric asthma cases dropping massively as a result of pandemic

No idea where to put this otherwise as it's a direct consequence of the pandemic and this is preliminary data, but what it suggests is too massive to ignore, especially as it challenges long-held dogma.
