Tymes Trust - No reported harassment of staff at Bristol University

I like that, I think we can all relate our ME experience to the one that started their group. We ought to pass them more information, establish a relationship.

Is a CPET safe for PWME?

I very much doubt it. I imagine different people are affected to different degrees, and the more severe you are to start with the worse the likely outcome. Just my opinion, it's not based on any science.

UK ME/CFS Biobank hosting Unrest screening with livestreamed Q&A after, Thurs 2nd Nov

thanks @Jonathan Edwards . I would thank Charles and Drs Cliff and Nacul but they are not members here. I hope they might consider joining, we can be a very welcoming bunch and it's good to have something positive going on in the UK.

Neurometabolites in anterior cingulate cortex in CFS:magnetic resonance spectroscopy study @ 7 Tesla

    :emoji_scream: We have a radical. I repeat, we have a radical. :emoji_grinning:

Eran Segal (Solve grantee): Personalised microbiome-based diets for blood glucose regulation

I see what you did there. Yeah I didn't mean to sound so negative, it's a good thing to explore and work out for sure, I just don't imagine we're quite there yet and that we'll need a much bigger sample before we are.

Blomberg, Bergquist, Gottfries: Infection & metabolic derangement biomarkers in ME/CFS (grant)

im not that keen on the microbial antigens having cross reactive epitopes to self hypothesis and kicking this all off, but maybe. I am keen on their looking for autoantibodies though and specifically around mitochondria and looking at energy metabolites.

13th Invest in ME Research International ME Conference - 1st June 2018

Every year I hope to go to this but nearer the time it becomes clear I'm not well enough to attempt it. Here's hoping 2018 will be different. Always a lot of very interesting stuff to come out of the conference.

    Microbiome testing reports discussion

I've done a few uBiome tests. I find them pretty interesting. To my surprise I've found that most probiotics don't tend to stick around once you stop taking them. Not sure if this is just me or if others find the same?

Tymes Trust - No reported harassment of staff at Bristol University

It's possible it is all made up, but I think that unlikely. I very much imagine that what's happened is someone has heckled Crawley, or sent her a strongly worded email, and that this has wrongly been labeled as harassment and used as it has. Given her colleagues made up or exaggerated claims of...

    BMJ best practise

Good highlights. Some awful stuff and some good stuff. The good stuff I think shows a genuine effort to try and get things right. The awful stuff is, unsurprisingly, all the stuff for which there is no good evidence and which conflicts with what patients report. It is a step forward, I don't...

Keeping Up Appearances - How to look good while feeling ill

Not when I've been at my worst. There were periods of time where it was a major achievement getting out of bed and making it to the sofa in my underwear. But I try to keep to a routine if I am able with getting dressed being a major part of it.

    Mesalazine/Mesalamine - anti-inflammatories

My gut wasn't that bad when I got ME. I had a bit of Irritable bowel syndrome, but nothing awful. I don't think my gut was quite right but I 100% didn't have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I later had long term antibiotics for suspected Lyme and subsequently got ulcerative colitis, induced...

Keeping Up Appearances - How to look good while feeling ill

I gave up some time ago. I look pretty scruffy most of the time. Not how I want to look, but it's hard enough just to get dressed each day from a practical perspective. I have a nice hat to keep my bald head warm and I'm pretty sure some people think I've got hair under there so that probably...

Cellular bioenergetics is impaired in patients with CFS (2017) Tomas, Strassheim, Newton et al

Thanks for your analysis Simon, I was looking forward to it. Also, welcome to the forum! I share your concern over this issue. On the one hand I do think we've started focusing on the right areas of research so I would expect to see results that contrast quite strongly with healthy controls...

Computer Simulation Suggests Multiple Sclerosis is a Single Disease

I haven't looked closely at the study and if I did I wouldn't understand all of the model anyway, but despite possible flaws with such a study I agree it's interesting and I see ME as being a single disease too. I know it's quite popular to predict that ME is in fact half a dozen different...

Using Heart rate monitoring to help with pacing.

Really helpful to hear what monitors people use. Before I was ill I had one which was great, with a strap. I used that for sport. Don't have it now. I need one without a strap anyway I sometimes struggle with breathing so don't want something round my chest. Cost Cant be too high but maybe I'll...
