Work is good for health: a thread to post and discuss the evidence for this statement

No worries. I thought it probably was generic but it's sometimes hard to tell so wanted to clarify that.

Dead but it won’t lie down: The myth that ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) = MUS (Medically Unexplained Symptoms).

It continues HERE Serious question. Do we really have enough robust proof of physical pathology to undermine the GET/CBT premise?

BBC Radio 2 Jeremy Vine Glandular Fever / M.E. discussion

I've taken to calling it exhaustion. I'm exhausted all the time. It never changes. But depending on any number of things I may be more or less tired as well. And of course you're right. The ME is the ME. It doesn't respond to anything except perhaps briefly and then back to usual.

Work is good for health: a thread to post and discuss the evidence for this statement

Most definitely did not want to imply that there was no relevance to discussing the issue here.

    Vagus Nerve Stimulation

I find it hard to imagine being severe and having the energy to attempt so many types of therapy. I appreciate all the caveats but it always seems to my reading that these are more about anticipating criticism than any real belief that the hypothesis might not be true. We seem to be wired...

Work is good for health: a thread to post and discuss the evidence for this statement

Yes. I think Canada is just a little behind the curve. Politically here there are people beating this particular drum and they are gaining traction.

Work is good for health: a thread to post and discuss the evidence for this statement

Not to say it doesn't exist but I am having difficulty finding anything much about work being good for health in Canada. I found one example of joining a choir at work being good and an article on why an employees financial well-being matters. I expect the thinking exists. there are many ways...

Anyone Treating the Eight Herpes Viruses with Antivirals?

Was unaware of this but at any rate I went looking for something that was maybe a write-up in layman english that discussed this and couldn't find anything. In the interim (past several minutes) I have found the thread on Viruses and Ron Davis/Bob Naviaux's remarks: Here

BMJ Editor's Choice: "The miracle cure"

For me the problem really is that she is not wrong -- at least in general terms. Many of us were very physically active before illness and enjoyed it. The real problem is understanding that there is a horrible exception to that general rule. She and so many others seem to not be able to take...

Anyone Treating the Eight Herpes Viruses with Antivirals?

There are recent studies as well that indicate PwME have a more robust immune response rather than a weaker immune system. I believe this is the reason for some of the typical flu-like symptoms that PwME experience -- swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, mild fever, aching muscles -- when...

Per Fink awarded the "Civil Courage" prize, Sept 2019

Thank you for that @NelliePledge and @Forbin I thought this had to be the case. So they used the name of an already existing award.

Is the prize awarded to PF the same prize? That the prize was inspired by Alexander Solzhenitzyn -- oh the irony.

You might want to state that this is a thread for UK evidence if that is the purpose.

Mind the Hype: A Critical Evaluation and Prescriptive Agenda for Research on Mindfulness and Meditation, (October 10, 2017) Van Dam, et al.

I hope the full text really is a useful read. I have no problem with mindfulness as a personal tool to be more present in one's own experience. But I can also precis the current uses of mindfulness: 'There is money to be made here'.
