There is a market for desperate people. People will pay lots of money for the suggestion they will get better. The product is not necessarily supplement or medication. The product may be the doctor himself/ herself. It could be a serie of treatments (Neurofeedback, brain retraining, Vagus nerve...

UK - NHS England online tool and clinics for long Covid.

Here is my nursing perspective. For a patient recovering from ICU post mechanical ventilation, it is essential to recover the lung fitness via breathing exercise to begin with. Next, there is a need to prevent blood clots. Usually hospital staff will recommend to move feet and ankles while in...

United Kingdom: Scotland NHS Lothian ME/CFS clinic

I get very weary of this global trend to organize ‘multi-disciplinary’ teams for self-management, coping and ‘wellness’. It simply means that you will not get access to any kind of medical care, but you will be offered a smorgasbord of group sessions to learn how to cope, how to be positive...

@ballard thank you so much for continuing this excellent work of yours, i had been used in social media with great interest. Post-Exertional Malaise - a discussion including defining and measuring PEM

I agree with you @Ravn, and i would like to add that many patients go through long periods of time without any infection (such as getting a cold), but PEM is often manifested by tender or swollen lymph node, sore throat and the feeling that an infection is coming.

DecodeME - UK ME/CFS DNA study underway

That is a bit of a scary thought but general practitioners do not know the difference between criteria, or the nuances, and most of them would not know what post exertional malaise means. And in Canada, most physicians do not even know the Canadian Consensus Criteria. Most patients have had to...

Tremors all over, pins and needles in hands and feet

It’s just a possibility amongst others, but somehow i remembered my nursing lessons. It is worthwhile to get it checked out and rule it out. I am sure the neurologist would have reviewed your meds anyways. Sending my best wishes.

Tremors all over, pins and needles in hands and feet

Hi @Squeezy lithium toxicity includes tremor, and it may be useful to get your Lithium blood levels checked just in case, even if you have had the same dose for a long while. Sometimes, your drug clearance changes due to liver or kidney function. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_toxicity

Paul Garner on Long Covid and ME/CFS - BMJ articles and other media.

I really dislike the term ‘long haulers’- it edges on the derogatory side, almost blaming the patient for not recovering as quickly as they should.

Psychological Correlates of Patients With Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) (2020) Fisher et al.

Agreed. It is pathetic to give a psychological profiling to all diseases that are poorly understood. It stigmatizes and decrease the likelihood of receiving competent care while increasing the likelihood of getting a psychiatric consultation or psychological treatments when it is not...
