Why is ME/CFS getting so little research funding?

Another reason is that MECFS never had a breakout viral campaign like ALS did. This raised over 100 million USD. https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/22/us/pat-quinn-als-ice-bucket-challenge-dead-trnd/index.html

    Aripiprazole - Abilify

I disagree with most of the above post. I had a real dramatic response that was more than a 10% improvement (went from moderate to mild) It was not a placebo response. I am noticing reduced response at about 3 months, suggesting tachyphlaxis. I think butydoc had a response at .1 mg—why should...

For me I don't think it's a question of overdoing it, but rather that it just stopped working.

I think you are probably correct about drugs that work in the brain.

Mechanism for drug tachyphylaxis (poop out) in ME/CFS?

It seems like some of us are losing our response to Abilify. Same thing happened with antivirals— they worked great until they didn’t. So why does this happen with this disease but not so much with other diseases? Please don’t make me read a long research paper......

I've seen this claim before about trimipramine not affecting sleep stages, but haven't ever really seen good scientific data on this.

"There have been no further updates since the cyclophosphamide study was published in April this year (https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fmed.2020.00162/full). I cannot tell you which proportion of the patients are still in remission, as we have no...

    Sleep meds poll

OK, but the trade-off is that the patient misses out on the best sleeping pill. The benzodiazepines for sleep are mostly half-measures. I’ll bet you that the benzo drug manufacturers over-promoted benzodiazepines and over-hyped the dangers of barbiturates to capture market share. Also Valeant...

    Sleep meds poll

Ummm you forgot the gold standard. https://www.drugs.com/comments/secobarbital/ A perfect 10/10 rating. Physicians are so scared to prescribe this stuff, probably to the detriment of many patients. What is the status of barbiturates in the UK/EU? (E.g., very rarely prescribed, etc.)

Why not? I have daytime fatigue and would like to not have it. However, I would prefer to see a trial of pitolisant (Wakix) which works by a completely different mechanism. Wakix is very expensive in the USA, but not as expensive in Europe. In general I support all non psychological clinical...
