Exercise-induced changes in cerebrospinal fluid miRNAs in Gulf War Illness, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and sedentary control subjects, 2017, Baraniuk

Got a response now elsewhere: Makes sense now I re-read abstract though I think the full text is more confusing

BBC: I made a film from my bed to prove my illness is real - Jen brea

It may depend how things are defined. I think there might be at least as much if not more sympathy on average if a woman had to become the sole bread-winner for a family if a husband/male partner became unable to work than if the genders are reversed where a man might be more expected to take on...

Exercise-induced changes in cerebrospinal fluid miRNAs in Gulf War Illness, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and sedentary control subjects, 2017, Baraniuk

Basic question here: why do the sample sizes vary so much in the non-exercise and post-exercise groups? Are they completely different groups or was data missing for some? I thought everyone did exercise test? For example, "non-exercise" gulf war: n=22. Post-exercise, n=64 (22+42). For CFS...

BBC: I made a film from my bed to prove my illness is real - Jen brea

A lot of carers are not caring for their spouse. Also if a couple has somebody they want to care for the man may continue working or work longer hours compared to the woman while the woman does the caring.

I liked it except for this bit: I remain to be convinced there is a gender difference in terms the percentages of male and female partners who leave or stay around. I remember looking at the membership list of a group I helped run. It had around 400 members. I didn't know the circumstances of...

Is a CPET safe for PWME?

Depends on severity of illness. Don't think should be done by anyone with severe ME (except perhaps in very exceptional circumstances). I was frustrated recently when somebody asked on an ME forum about a single exercise test and virtually everyone said: you'll be grand with some adding that...

Action for M.E.: New webinar for healthcare professionals coming soon

To add a bit of clarification, I actually think Action for ME does some good work some of the time, but on things like professional education they don't like to criticise CBT and GET much and sometimes promote them.

Action for M.E.: New webinar for healthcare professionals coming soon

Given Emily is hosting this and it is organised by Action for ME, I wouldn't have high hopes for this.

A general thread on the PACE trial!

I'm not sure I will read this but I thought this was interesting: People will recall a score of 60+ was a recovery criterion in the PACE Trial in which Trudie Chalder was a principal investigator.

The presence of co-morbid mental health problems in a cohort of adolescents with CFS (2017) Chalder et al.

CBT was not mentioned by name nor CBT/GET theories so I found it less annoying than some papers from those of the CBT school of thought.
