I came across Bourdieu when doing my Masters forty years ago and answered an exam question on him in one of the papers. Not relevant to S4ME I know but after a gap of 40 years, I found it interesting to come across him again and see his work being used as the theoretical underpinning explaining...
I spoke to my GP a week to 10 days ago, and he told me I would be getting a Pfizer booster in late summer/ autumn, after having two AZ doses in Jan and April.
In fact he said that all would be getting the Pf, including the 12+, and that the Government had already bought the jabs. That's what he...
If you read the Guardian ( hard copy), on page 9 today there is a lot of data entitled " Data -Cases, deaths and admissions down but two thirds still vulnerable." Diagrams with dots representing people.
Also explanations and diagrams of why the Delta variant is a significant threat, and figures...
Mine too. Although I did react to AZ2, I found it easier to manage because I had gone through the process and similar and worse reactions before after AZ1. It helped me stay a lot calmer.
Good luck @JemPD
edit:: for clarification
This.
The power imbalance in the shaping of the narrative around PWME has been extreme, so much so that it is often not recognised that a particular distorted and unevidenced view has been uncritically accepted. The assumptions underlying the language used, and activist is an example, should...
I too entirely agree with your post #1023 @Trish.
I don't think you need to apologise for being grumpy. The whole Cochrane process of delay after delay, and protection of the status quo, would try the patience of a saint.
I too hope we are proved wrong @JemPD.
I am glad to see the process...
@JaneL @JemPD - thank you for the expressions of sympathy. After two weeks I am now beginning to improve.
The inability to tolerate Mr B's voice in the room with me was particularly frightening. I now have a set of Bose earphones and am learning when they can help.
I am 5 weeks post AZ2. I was affected so severely by the vaccine that my life is more restricted than prior to vaccination.
I have seen my daughter and family outside for a picnic. The noise from that event a couple of weeks ago ( there was a drum playing in the distance which caused me to...
@lunarainbows - thank you for that full answer which should help me on my way forward.
As well as the pain, what is really concerning me is the damage caused by the prednisolone to another health condition. I really want to hear what the prednisolone Consultant has to say about this and what he...
When I was diagnosed with polymyalgia and prescribed prednisolone, my Consultant said he would prefer to prescribe me cannabis but it wasn't allowed.
The prednisolone has proved to be "a complete disaster", the words of another Consultant who treats me for a different condition and he has...
Have just been digging round and the MEAssociation (CS)has today published a statement saying that not all ME patients have tolerated the vaccine.
There is a focus on 3 cases including Chair of Trustees
Neil Riley who suffered for two and a half months. Haven't yet read it fully but link is as...
@ukxmrv
I am really sorry you are experiencing this. I'm not surprised it is getting you down.
I too had what I would call severe effects but at about 8-10 weeks they did begin to ameliorate. I don't know how long after v you are but if it is less than this, maybe it will improve in time. This...
I just saw the results of the Com -COV ( mix and match)
Oxford research.

I wrote more about it here.

I wonder...
Results of the Com- COV study are out ( mix and match vaccines) and show that mixing and matching increases the risk of unpleasant side effects.

I posted part of Jennie Spotila's review of Josie's book (above) on my fb page today for #milliondmissing. Also some of Josie's words. They are so beautiful and descriptive. I had to check I'd posted them: I knew I meant to. I did but the pain and fog are bad today. Thanks for posting them...
I registered to take part in the Zoe Covid study based at Kings but I felt so ill after AZ1 that I couldn't do it. I do have daily scribbles written for myself about what was happening to me and I later had AZ2.
Yesterday I had an email from the study team which included a request for details...
https://committees.parliament.uk/call-for-evidence/438/covid-19-vaccine-certification
I came across this about an hour ago, unfortunately too late to be of use. It closed at midnight.
If certification is introduced, and I seem to remember news items which indicated it is likely, what are the...
I think the link provided above https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-56901356 gives a more nuanced picture giving details of some of the differences between the two vaccines most used in the U.K., Pfizer and AZ.
I wish my response had been as mild as those listed but I think it has been mast...
