The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

If I recall correctly, it was a patient with EDS, and they desperately needed the surgery, and they were aware of a high risk of dying, and chose to proceed anyway.

    Dr Byron Hyde - Canada

From Countrygirl on PR: "I wouldn't be at all surprised that, as one of the older generation, he wasn't familiar with keeping records on a computer, but the accusations, I have been reliably told from a source I trust, are a trumped up by a medical profession which is keen to get rid of a...

MS society funds study of immune system to understand why pregnancy can alleviate autoimmune conditions, possible ME relevances

This could be very interesting, given that Jessica Taylor-Bearman's ME became less severe during her pregnancy (it's too early to say yet whether those improvements have remained after her daughter was born). The same happens for some PWME... but then some other PWME (Sophie cooklynn is one who...

    Dr Byron Hyde - Canada

@duncan But it's Byron Hyde's views that are used by a small group of ME patients to say "we have the true ME, you all have something else". So I really don't think he's helpful to the ME community as a whole. Also, pushing unvalidated theories as scientific fact is not helpful to our community...

    Dr Byron Hyde - Canada

Was this only announced today? His hearing was 6 days ago, and I'm surprised that I haven't seen any angry posts about it (although I haven't been on Facebook or Twitter yet today).

    Dr Byron Hyde - Canada

Yeah, why is it that a group of ME patients are convinced that Byron Hyde is right and everyone else is wrong? How does it help them, believing that?

National Geographic: Newly discovered organ may be lurking under your skin (pain-sensing glial cells, 2019)

The article, if I've understood it correctly, seems to say that this is just for "mechanical" types of pain, i.e. when your skin gets cut or you get hit, things like that.
