Review Clinical evidence of the link between gut microbiome and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome: a retrospective review 2024 Wang et al

Abstract Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a heterogeneous disorder with elusive causes, but most likely because of clinical and other biological factors. Transient resting-state salience-limbic co-activation patterns in functional neurological disorders, 2024, Weber et al

Highlights Patients entered more frequently into insular-somatomotor co-activation. Patients entered less often into insular co-activation with subcortical regions. Dynamic alterations correlated with alpha-amylase and duration of illness. Functional alterations reflect prioritizing...

Evidence for Sensitized Fatigue Pathways in Patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, 2016, Staud et al

Abstract Patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) frequently demonstrate intolerance to physical exertion that is often reported as increased and long-lasting fatigue. Because no specific metabolic alterations have been identified in CFS patients, we hypothesized that sensitized fatigue...

Open UK: People with severe ME needed for HHV-6 study (can be done from home)

@JohnTheJack asked the question on Twitter. Their reply was "Great question John! The definition our team uses is "bed bound or house bound", but if you want to know more about the criteria you can contact them here: https://cureme.lshtm.ac.uk/contact-us/. Hope that helps."

Unique pathways downstream of TLR-4 and TLR-7 activation: sex-dependent behavioural, cytokine, and metabolic consequences 2024 Dunstan et al

[In mice] Introduction: Post-infection syndromes are characterised by fatigue, muscle pain, anhedonia, and cognitive impairment; mechanistic studies exploring these syndromes have focussed on pathways downstream of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 activation. Here, we investigated the mechanistic...

Machine learning identifies fatigue as a key symptom of [FM] reflected in tyrosine, purine, pyrimidine, and glutaminergic metabolism 2024 Zetterman+

Abstract Fibromyalgia patients vary in clinical phenotype and treatment can be challenging. The pathophysiology of fibromyalgia is incompletely understood but appears to involve metabolic changes at rest or in response to stress. We enrolled 54 fibromyalgia patients and 31 healthy controls to...

Statement from the Bateman Horne Centre about the study, "But, no study is perfect. In our opinion, this one fell short by not including enough patients who are moderately to severely ill. Closed UK: DecodeME updates, was recruitment thread.

Replication would always be a good thing and is something that we are proactively talking about with researchers who have access to existing datasets - however there isn't a well defined nationwide genetic dataset from the States, so for what it is worth we would support the establishment of one.
