Did anyone save the ME Association statement? It was here: https://meassociation.org.uk/a107 It has been removed from the website and nothing seems to have replaced it (looking at the news section). Did it contain anything more than the (in my opinion, useful) comments from Dr Shepherd that...

A ridiculous claim from the press release: 4. In their assessment NICE downgraded all outcomes related to fatigue, considering it to be too subjective to measure. But how else than asking patients how they are can one assess whether a treatment has worked?

Press release keeps calling it a study rather than a paper. I’m not sure it would be most people’s understanding of a study e.g. what are the methods? A “commentary” would be better.

Anomalies in the review process and interpretation of the evidence in the NICE guideline for (CFS & ME), 2023, White et al

I think there may be a small weakness in NICE’s description of GET in that the ignoring symptoms aspect of GET is more in not decreasing when symptoms occur rather than increasing. I’d need to check exact wordings to see how exactly NICE defined GET. Related point: Wallman’s exercise program...

Was Peter White's ill health ever given as a reason not to respond to some issues e.g. freedom of information requests relating to the PACE Trial? I know we never got data for one of mine because it was supposedly going to be published. Because he has been able to publish a number of papers in...

I note that this journal takes e-letters: https://jnnp.bmj.com/content/early/2023/07/09/jnnp-2022-330463.responses Such e-letters don't have to be perfect but best to do them in scientific format with numbered references underneath. Even just one or two references underneath might be...

United Kingdom: Sussex & Kent ME/CFS Society News

Peter White who Colin Barton has been close to has used similar wording. Basically it seems like he likes to claim people are recovered when they are not and people have unrealistic ideas of what is a healthy amount of activity. Also blaming the patient for the illness. Peter White said things...

Do diagnostic criteria for ME matter to patient experience with services and interventions?, 2023, Kielland et al

I found the discussion of the sampling method very interesting. It claims to lead to a less biased sample than simply using the people who are most inclined to up reply to surveys which could be a big problem with ME surveys. The theory sounds plausible though who knows how good it is in practice.
