    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

If you check on-line the shelf life in the fridge is long - so no issues with transporting it on normal (i.e. water) ice.

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

I think the selling point for Oxford/AstraZenica was that it was cheap [£5 versus £50 for Pfizer] and the UK had ordered enough to vaccinate 50 million people -- oh and the virus is now out of control and our hospitals are pretty much swamped.

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

I've belatedly followed @Jonathan Edwards advice re shopping i.e. click & collect --- drive through in my case. Additional veg shop - I've explained that I've a vulnerable family member so they bring the shopping out to the street --- like a kidnap exchange! I'd be similarly worried about my...

    Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations

The Moderna vaccine should also be an option for home vaccination - the news from BBC etc. is that the Moderna vaccine should be available in the "spring"!

The Puzzle Solver by Tracie White

There was someone in the UK who published on ME affecting sight --- response times or some such.

News about Long Covid including its relationship to ME/CFS 2020 to 2021

Is there a simple way to measure perfusion "we were working on this hypothesis that chronic fatigue syndrome was caused by a lack of perfusion in those vessels to the muscles and other tissues"? Did the results turn up anything?

The evidence base for physiotherapy in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome when considering PEM: a systematic review (2020) Wormgoor

Thank you very much for your response - as always --- I may have to think through some parts of it though!

The evidence base for physiotherapy in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome when considering PEM: a systematic review (2020) Wormgoor

I don't feel I have a good understanding of PACE, but I'm slightly surprised by this "As someone who has designed and executed trials I could not fault PACE on that basis scientifically." The reason I say that is that those involved in PACE seem to have failed to incorporate adequate indicators...

The possibility of autoimmunity or auto-reactivity in ME/CFS

Very interesting i.e. "persistent abnormal T cell activation in a hidden compartment". Would it be possible to test for this and if so then how?

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

Interesting that the consider that "a 12 week interval between doses, instead of the shorter interval, and they are saying that longer interval was what boosted immunity". Also I'd agree that "I think the roll out of whatever vaccine is available and approved is largely because of the very high...

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

Yes the key constraint, for the Pfizer (-70) vaccine but not Moderna (-20), is access to minus 70 freezers i.e. for longer term storage. Has anyone quantified "pretty good immunity --- without the second dose"? @Snow Leopard

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

Yes, I assume that they will continue using the Pfizer vaccine i.e. (as you indicate) the amount they've contracted to buy - same for Moderna. Combined enough to vaccinate 25 million people in the UK? I assume that if you get the Pfizer/Moderna vaccine then you'll get 2 doses of it ---...

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

I wonder if it reflects the fact that the UK has lost control of the virus; therefore, they're forced to act.

Are Circulating FGF21 and NT-proBNP promising novel biomarkers in ME/CFS, 2020, Joan Charles Domingo et al

I'm guessing that something which is not cleared/consumed at the normal rate would be present at higher levels i.e. since it accumulates. So yes increased production is not necessary. Chris Armstrong, & Fluge and Mella, demonstrated lower levels of certain amino acids --- presumed to be the...

I'm beginning to wonder if the UK regulator is being "awkward" i.e. asking for data!

    Aripiprazole - Abilify

When you put it like that, it appears to be relatively easy. However, possibly the problem is getting a proposed study through an ethics committee - which potentially suggests lack of evidence of efficacy @Sid

    Aripiprazole - Abilify

If e.g. there are particular problems/barriers in the US, then another option would be to do this in the EU, UK ----. In fact, Ron Tompkins (OMF Stanford), highlighted that they would be working with researchers in the UK to (among other things) get around issue of taking muscle biopsy's, from...

    Aripiprazole - Abilify

@Jonathan Edwards has pointed out that the rituximab trial was well conducted. I'd like to see a trial of aripiprazole-abilify in ME; however I wonder though would it only help a sub-group - I assume a well conducted trial would pick that up. The rituximab trial was expensive; however the cost...
