Yahoo!life : A COVID-19 long-hauler details his year of 'hell'
Senior Editor Ed Hornick got ill with Covid-19 over 10 months ago and shares his story. Mentions ME a couple of places.
I've wondered why Yahoo!life has had some rather good, in depth articles on Long Covid.
So true!
And it brings so many absurd situations where you don't even know where to start regarding explaining, so you just don't. Like when a housebound friend of mine was adviced to go out on the town and have some wine with her girlfriends. And me receiving advice on which shoes I ought to...
Exactly!
The focus should be "What is important to YOU?" and "How can we make that happen"?
I'd hate to have to follow a set activity programme by a therapist. I'll be able to do more in total when I am free to follow my own pace, by continuously adjusting activities according to the...
This is how they describe the CFS/ME-team's interdisciplinary approach to "pacing"
The patient's stories are sad to read. The shame and self blaming of not being able to live up to society's and one's own expectations of activity and productivity.
The Science Bit: Apart from the sampling ambiguity, weak measurement, survivor bias, missing data, and lack of control group, the study wasn't that bad
A good opinion piece today from civil engineer and ME patient Benedikte Monrad-Krohn published at forskningno, a news site about research.
"ME-krigen" trenger ikke å være en krig
google translation: The "ME war" doesn't have to be a war
The Norwegian newspaper Bergens Tidende has a paywalled article today about rehabilitation of Covid-19 patients at the institution "Health in Hardanger" (Helse in Hardanger).
Specialist in heart- and lung physiotherapy, Bente Frisk, says in the article that there aren't any large studies, but...
Good to see the following message on exercise and PEM coming across from dr. Daniel Griffith in his latest clinical updated at TWIV (at 19.20 min)
I also want to talk a little bit about treatment here. I still find it frustrating, I’m sure a lot of our listeners who have Long Covid find it...
Splendid article with interviews with Nina Muirhead, David Strain, Charles Shepherd and Amy Small. Thank you to those who contributed!
When it was becoming clear that COVID-19 was a serious issue early last year, Nina Muirhead (pictured) had a strong suspicion about what would happen next.
As...
The Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet had a paywalled article on Monday about Long Covid where they've interviewed among others prof. Vegard Bratholm Wyller who apparently is going to do research on this patient group :( Seems he will be building on his previous research on Epstein Barr infection...
The national competence service for CFS/ME in Norway (known for a BPS approach) submitted a commentary to the draft NICE guidelines. It's available under the headline "news" (Nyheter) at their website.
Here is direct link to their commentary...
I've listened to it now.
The title for dr. Thürmer's talk was: ME/CFS/SEID a Norwegian perspective
She spoke about her background and gave some basic facts on different names and criteria for ME. That ME and fatigue are different. The IOM report. General (lack of) knowledge about ME among...
Don't think this has been posted here yet?
Hanne Thürmer is a Norwegian cardiologist and one of the researchers of the RituxME-trial. Haven't seen the talk yet, but she's very knowledgeable about ME and sympathetic, so this should be good!
