Functional Cognitive Disorders (FCD): How Is Metacognition Involved?, 2021, Larner

Difficult to understand something that probably doesn't exist. Another suggestion is that this, and the broader FND project, is a figment of your imaginations. Is that an admission of the previous two points I made? These people are diagnosing the lurid fantasies in their own heads, not what...

United Kingdom: Bath paediatric CFS/Fatigue clinic - Esther Crawley; Phil Hammond

Special elites are allowed to do that. Only us peasants have to obey the rules. --------------- Can somebody on Twitter reply to this tweet that the PEM response is also non-linear. Pushing a little too hard can result in a major cost (payback). Especially early on in a patient's experience of...

What we're not being told about ME - UnHerd (Tom Chivers)

And, boy, is there a story here. Just not the one that has been dominant for the last 3 decades.

We need both. Analysis is the foundation on which the politics must be built. We would have gotten nowhere without the analysis.

Petition: #MEAction: Publish the NICE ME/CFS Guideline Now

Every time I have signed a petition there they have suggested a bunch of other petitions to sign. Normal practice for them.

Who Agrees That GRADE is (a) unjustified in theory and (b) wrong in practice?

Speaking as a former medical equipment tech, they sometimes even complain when it is working perfectly.

What we're not being told about ME - UnHerd (Tom Chivers)

And the concept of PEM is not exactly new either. Been around for several decades.

What we're not being told about ME - UnHerd (Tom Chivers)

Oh don't worry, they are expanding their remit as we speak. What will happen is that MUS (or whatever label it is trading under this month) will simply become an additional diagnosis on top of whatever real disease the patient has. Do you mean 'irrelevant'? Fair point. But in which case he...

What we're not being told about ME - UnHerd (Tom Chivers)

Exactly. If they couldn't even get a result in PACE using the weakest criteria (Oxford), which doesn't require PEM, what makes them think PEM is the issue? There isn't even a point here for them to make.

WTF is wrong with British journalism?

Sense about Science (UK) and subjective outome measures

There is a critical difference between patient reported, and patient preferred outcomes. Might be some overlap, but they are not the same thing.

    Who is Simon Wessely?

Our very own Groundhog Day. Aren't we lucky. :bored:

Well that is one interpretation of the joke. ;)

Harassment claims in the media and social media.

I think Wessely is vulnerable on this incident. His behaviour really does not seem that of a man genuinely in fear of his safety, let alone that of his then early teenage (?) son and his schoolmates. One of the more obviously fraudulent of the harassment and threats claims, I suspect. Yes...
