I tried flagging an issue with both Afme and MEA representatives. MEA said to e-mail someone. Afme could not be persuaded to respond. There seemed to be an unwillingness from both to respond here.
Is it clear what is meant by "our"? If it means the editorial staff, the problem could be the proprietors. If it means the company then it is hard to see. One would have thought any comments could be framed in such a way as to avoid any legal threats. It seems to imply "force majeure".
I agree entirely. I don't think any of it was ever thought through. I tried to make the point at the time that the MEA appeared to have handed over representation of their members' interests to a body over which they had no control. "Delegatus non potest delegare" as the saying goes-although it...
One report, a couple of days ago, suggested that they would be able to prescribe golf, presumably only to overworked executives. Wasn't sure whether this was itended to improve the prospects of seeing some consultants. Or have those days gone?
I am not even sure I would be happy with that amendment. Groups are represented at meetings of Forward ME, but their seem only to be "linked organisations", not members. It was the use of the definite article in the term "te UK member of the alliance" which appeared to preclude the possibility...
It is possible that I read too much into this minute from the 1st May 2018 Forward ME meeting but Charles Shepherd was present and if he had any objections they are not recorded.
Questions and discussion 3.1 The Chairman asked if Forward-ME could invite a member of the Alliance to come and...
I think it was the general tenor of the minuted discussions of meetings of Forward ME last April or May when Forward ME suddenly, and apparently without preparatory discussion, decided it should become a member of IAFME. This has been why I keep going on about this subject. It seemed that all...
Do the problems extend wider than Afme?
The impression is given that the MEA considers itself to be represented through Forward ME, but this appears to be an entirely delusional belief as, so far as one can tell, Forward ME has no membership or constitution and its activities are solely at the...
This post has been bothering me. In particular, the sentence "It was only when the girl's parents sought the intervention of the secretary of state that the girl was allowed home and removed from the at risk register".
The secretary of state is apparently fully aware of improper decision making...
A quick google of those names would suggest that the "Dr" is not necessarily medically related. They appear to have been involved individually or together, with briefing papers on drugs policy, fly tipping and bee population. It seems reasonable to assume that there is no specialist knowledge.
I still have not seen any indication as to why Gelder might have provided financial assistance, of any sort to the Oxford conference. I'm sure that I have seen comments from Sharpe that Gelder was supportive but had no particular interest in CFS. It is puzzling.
These musings of his seem of little import when one considers that he was on the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee in the lead up to the crash. With such perspicacity and prescience it is perhaps not surprising that we are where we are.
Even more insidious when you recall that Alan Milburn who was secretary of State for health at the time PACE was initially being put together resigned in 2003 to spend more time with his family, or Bridgepoint Capital as they are otherwise known.
Milburn took a post for £30,000 a year as an...
The comments in that 2012 document about ME being a "complex psychological problem" are very interesting. They are so far removed from the usual public comment that they might at first be regarded as a mistake. It is however worth looking at the status of the writer of the missive-Professor...
How do they equate severe ME with any sort of school attendance? One might expect issues over school attendance to be compatible with mild ME including recurrent periods of greater severity.
