Do all ME / CFS sufferers have low stamina?

I also developed low stamina after getting ME/CFS. I do push myself to keep physically active, but I can't do anywhere near what I could do pre ME/CFS. I think that I am in the minority here in that I don't worry about PEM. I know I will get it once I've pushed myself too far, but to me it is...

The Stanford Daily: Stanford Medicine professor (José Montoya) fired for violating University rules of conduct (june 2019)

Blaming 'cultural differences' seems like a real cop out. Stanford University would not have fired him if it were simply a matter of him being overly affectionate with the people he was working with. They did an investigation first, and must have had adequate proof that he was doing more than...

    Panic attacks or crashes?

Are you drinking more caffeine than usual? I used to get panic attacks from coffee. Once I stopped drinking and eating anything with caffeine in it, the panic attacks went away. Touch wood, that was close to 30 years ago and I haven't had any problems since.

    Efficacy of supplements

Magnesium definitely helps with sleep. I took it while going through perimenopause and I slept really well. The only problem was that I was sleeping really well all day long, also. I had to stop after six weeks because I got to the point where I couldn't think anymore. When you stand staring at...

    Efficacy of supplements

I've spent thousands of $$$$$ on the various vitamin and mineral supplements over the years and nothing has helped my ME at all. I've had Naturopaths prescribe vitamin therapy, and there again, nothing made any difference. My conclusion - ME isn't a vitamin and/or mineral deficiency.

The effect of evening primrose oil on fatigue and quality of life in patients with multiple sclerosis

When I was first diagnosed with ME/CFS a ND recommended that I take EPO, however, I never noticed any difference good or bad.

Jen Brea: My ME is in remission

I was wondering the same thing earlier this morning. When I watched 'Unrest' when it aired on PBS last year I remember thinking at the time that my ME was definitely not the same one that Jen had.

Jen Brea: My ME is in remission

The symptoms, though, of 'Tethered Cord Syndrome' don't sound anything like ME.

Jen Brea: My ME is in remission

As this is something that is usually found in children, I would have to think that the surgery would be available in the UK.

Jen Brea: My ME is in remission

I wonder, even though Jen Brea believes that she had ME, if she wasn't incorrectly diagnosed in the beginning and never did have ME?? Anyone else thinking the same thing?

Jen Brea: My ME is in remission

You beat me to it, @Dr Carrot - I was just in the process of posting this same news.

Building an evidence base for management of severe ME (including sleep management)

"We" as in everyone, with or without ME/CFS. Our hearts are muscles and need to be exercised like any other muscle. Also, lack of physical activity can also lead to dementia which I certainly don't want as I get older. Obviously for those of us who can be somewhat active, we certainly aren't...

    2 metabolic traps/2 types of ME/CFS

This is why I think that when we have a better understanding of ME/CFS, we will find out that there will be different types. If people say that they don't have fatigue then I have no reason not to believe them. For some it could be that other symptoms over-power the fatigue so that they aren't...

    2 metabolic traps/2 types of ME/CFS

I definitely believe that there are different forms of ME. Just as there are different forms of cancers, diabetes, respiratory infections, headaches, etc. it wouldn't surprise me if there are several different causes of ME/CFS and each possibly requiring a different form of treatment. My ME/CFS...

Building an evidence base for management of severe ME (including sleep management)

Getting your heart rate up from physical activity and having a racing heart when lying still are two very different things with two very different causes. You can't compare the two.

A nanoelectronics-blood-based diagnostic biomarker for ME/CFS (2019) Esfandyarpour, Davis et al

That has never been my experience. But then again, we are all different.

Building an evidence base for management of severe ME (including sleep management)

I guess it depends on your definition of physical activity. We need to be doing something that gets our heart rates elevated and I can't see that involuntary movements are going to do that. On the days were I do too much, I find it harder falling asleep, but when I do get to sleep it tends to...

Building an evidence base for management of severe ME (including sleep management)

It would be interesting to know if there are countries, and areas within countries, with a greater prevalence of ME, especially severe cases. The only problem I see is that ALL countries would have to be using the same definition of ME. There can't be a mix of the Canadian Consensus Criteria...

Building an evidence base for management of severe ME (including sleep management)

I would think that a person who gets very little physical activity during the day, especially long term, would be more likely to have problems with sleep.
