Lower socioeconomic status is associated with an increased prevalence of comorbid anxiety & depression among patients with [IBS], 2019, Staller et al

I think it'll be psychs advocating for more funding for themselves so they can provide support for those lower down the socioeconomic scale.

How ME/CFS Progresses: A Framework for Research and the Prevention, Treatment, and Rehabilitation in ME/CFS Nacul et al 2019

Physicians? Given the current predominant response of the majority of physicians, either pushing exercise, and/or traumatizing, many ME patients would not be as sick as they are.

Reproducibility of Measurements Obtained During Cardiopulmonary Testing in Individuals With Fatiguing Health Conditions - Larson, Snell, Davenport ..

I have a close friend who experiences 'chronic fatigue' (not 'cfs') and it is from his HIV meds. When he's not on them, he does not experience fatigue. Fortunately, a pharmacist (when physicians failed to care or take action) noted that all his HIV meds had one particular ingredient (my friend...

Reproducibility of Measurements Obtained During Cardiopulmonary Testing in Individuals With Fatiguing Health Conditions - Larson, Snell, Davenport ..

is this individual with HIV on meds? My first assumption was the authors assumed living with HIV (and treatment) was de facto a fatiguing condition. Also curious why the WL and VE did not increase for HIV+?

Canadian Federal Health Minister to make announcement regarding ME, August 22

The press release and special announcement were also an opportunity to give voice to ME patients on national media, for the Health Minister to acknowledge we've been ignored and harmed thereby validating ME patients, for the Scientific Director to tell his physician colleagues to stop adding...

    Ampligen for ME/CFS

Their choice of acronym is good marketing. Perhaps this re-branding will help them move forward.

Canadian Federal Health Minister to make announcement regarding ME, August 22

How, if at all, does that fit with ME patients' reduced red blood cell deformability? Does it compound the 'brain fog' (and other symptoms where RBCs go)?

Canadian Federal Health Minister to make announcement regarding ME, August 22

Spread over 5 years. When we were getting ready for a group photo, Sabrina was organizing people and asked the Minister to move a step to the left, the Minister turned to me and said 'See, I can take orders sometimes." I said "Well then, I order you put up $10M in funding for ME next year!"...

Canadian Federal Health Minister to make announcement regarding ME, August 22

Awesome updating, and bang on commentary Richard. Just home after 2 flights in 1 day, and it's the descents that get me - or the turbulence, especially in those small planes - I have a history of passing out on descents so doing a 2-fer was a risk. I managed to take some pics - pardon my...

Canadian Federal Health Minister to make announcement regarding ME, August 22

Thanks - fwiw, the govt is footing the travel costs for this, but yeah, lots of time and energy...and relationship building by a group of us, so today is pivotal.

Canadian Federal Health Minister to make announcement regarding ME, August 22

I'm flying to (and fro) Montreal tomorrow for the announcement, but can neither confirm nor deny rumours about content :) I can say it will be good (but not enough, of course) news.

    Dr Byron Hyde - Canada

News to me too. From what I understand, only licensed (psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker) can use the term 'psychotherapy' whereas other 'therapists' use the term 'counsellor'.

    Dr Byron Hyde - Canada

Fwiw, I have little trust in the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The CPSO goes to great lengths to protect physicians that cause harm and death...as long as the physician toes the CPSO line. The biggest reason Canadian patients have great difficulty getting any off-label meds...
