Back in my (brief) uni days I shared a house with an ex-psychologist.
He was ex because he said after a few years of clinical practice he realised that all he was doing was superficially patching people up (and often not even that much) and just sending them straight back out into the world...
Great article, much thanks to the authors. :)
I agree, this is an important aspect to it. Overturning the old paradigm in this case was not driven by new evidence, but by a more honest look at the existing evidence, or lack of it.
"definable pathology has been identified"
Not sure I would have said that.
"The key diagnostic symptom of ME is PESE (Post Exertional Symptom Exacerbation),"
Need to at least add (also known as PEM, Post Exertional Malaise). Lack of historical continuity is a problem. Anybody dealing with...
On the other hand, motivation and a hope that the treatment will work is necessary for a psychoeducational method such as the one used in the study to be effective.

neglect, and often even a lack of compassion and understanding from some of the people they turn to for help.
Including decades of vicious smear tactics and straight abuse. We are...
Completely agree.
I have not lost basic strength. I can still pick up heavy objects without much trouble. Being a largish male I could probably pick up more weight than most my age.

Current literature points to a centrally sensitized state in CFS.
No it doesn't.
I have the opposite, consistently high ALP every time it has been measured since I got ME.
The most consistent (abnormal) lab finding in my medical history.
@EndME
Thanks.
Certainly not suggesting it is appropriate for regular clinical use.
But a far earlier use of it for basic research could have saved us a lot of trouble, regardless of what it finds.
