Crashed. Could hayfever have done this?

@TigerLilea oh my! :jawdrop: I'll stop using it! Definitely worth trying that. Thanks.

Crashed. Could hayfever have done this?

@Kitty Thanks so much for this, it's reassuring, but I'm sorry you get hit with it every year. :( I hope the initial crash ends quickly for you, and doesn't last that whole March to end of May period. That's when I used to get hayfever too. Tree blossom time. But I didn't this year, my first...

Crashed. Could hayfever have done this?

Thanks @Sarah94 and @Daisymay I really appreciate you responding. Hadn't heard of Haymax, @Daisymay, thanks for the advice on that. I'll load up on vitamin C as I have it, and try and read about the other 2 things. I always NEED to try to help myself. This just feels utterly bizarre. I was...

Crashed. Could hayfever have done this?

I'm crashed. Don't think it's PEM. I'm wondering if sudden hayfever could have caused this nasty episode. I haven't had hayfever for a decade because of living abroad. Then got hit with a horrible attack a couple of weeks ago. I'm using a steroid nasal spray and Benadryl to control it, but my...

How Chronic Illness Can Influence Suicide Risk

Disbelief by doctors, family and friends. To be so ill, and few, if any, taking your dreadful physical condition seriously? You feel like you're dying a terrible drawn out death... Add in financial worries, isolation and fear of the future... It's no wonder so many die by their own hand.

How Chronic Illness Can Influence Suicide Risk

"The clinician perceives," is a phrase that fills me with horror. What kind of physician? I'm beyond sceptical about leaving such a damaging diagnosis to the subjective judgement of a single doctor. They can be prideful, egotistical, arrogant, devoid of empathy, and careless of pain management...

Ethical classification of ME/CFS in the United Kingdom (2019) Diane O'Leary

Thank you for this expression. "Diagnostic Overshadowing" Very useful. It's precisely what the NHS seeks to do with their catergory of, "Medically Unexplained Physical Symptoms".

Daily Telegraph: Living hell or yuppie flu? The confusing fog of chronic fatigue syndrome

"Profound tiredness after unaccustomed exercise" he says. He's missed the point. It's mostly "Profound bloody tiredness after ACCUSTOMED exercise, for no bloody reason." I never stopped brushing my teeth, or going to the loo, so why is this so bloody exhausting?

A general thread on the PACE trial!

@Lucibee Yep. If they wanted to. Crucial point. So no repeal of GET then? @Barry it's bound to be me who's confused. Must look up the new NICE guidelines when not splatted with PEM. Thanks.

A general thread on the PACE trial!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the NHS is sending the message through the ranks to stop recommending GET, but it will take 2 years to inform all doctors. Was this a dream/nightmare? Can someone please point me to the place? Heartfelt thanks. Needed ASAP to challenge idiot Consultant.

    Venlafaxine (Velaxin, Effexor)

I'm so sorry you're in this situation @svetoslav80. It does sound like your mother really cares about you, though, and wants to help you, but can't understand the illness at all and is frustrated, and fearful. I'm not excusing her for pressuring you to take antidepressants, and driving you...

Central sensitization: a matter of concern

I've screen shot this page, to have on hand to rebut the baseless assertions of anyone foolish enough to utter the words, "Central" and "Sensitisation" in my direction. Thanks for the science, @Michiel Tack @Snow Leopard and @Snowdrop Hands up, who's monumentally fed up with these terms being...

Central sensitization: a matter of concern

This Central Sensitisation idea should be tested in other patient populations for veracity, for bias. Because no one who is exhausted, (parents of babies, the overworked), and/or suffering from an illness can cope well with additional pain. Or are they saying that Central Sensitisation is the...

'Heaviness' - could it be used as a measurement?

I also get this as a definite warning sign that I've overdone it. My limbs are generally heavy, but gloriously, sometimes, it lifts and I feel lighter and do things... Too many... I'm determined to master pacing, and just STOP before the heaviness returns, and I'm lost to PEM. @Barry 's small...

    Venlafaxine (Velaxin, Effexor)

That's why I take all my 300mg dose in the morning. I did the same when I was on a high dose of 60mg of Prozac. I slept fine on Proxac, but my sleep on Venlafaxine has varied from normal, through to 10 hours a night when the ME started, then awake every couple of hours for years...

    Venlafaxine (Velaxin, Effexor)

It's so difficult. Less than 50% of people respond to the first anti depressant they try. Some research puts it at only 30%. But the figures for trying a second or third, or combinations of medications are more encouraging, but still far from making them the answer for all. It seems The Star D...

    Venlafaxine (Velaxin, Effexor)

Venlafaxine is HORRENDOUS to get off, so if you're having ANY doubts about it, please please review it seriously with your doctor. It is acknowledged in British NHS and American medical literature that the Discontinuation Syndrome that @Stewart describes is a serious problem with Venlafaxine...
