I can’t see all of this, but it seems there is a push in Ireland for folk to wear masks outside. (First bit of article is available without subscription.)
Face masks are key to halting coronavirus and helping us leave lockdown...

Looks way more comfortable than the current get-up, and much more friendly for those receiving care too. Let’s hope it’s up to spec. :)

Putting my biologist hat on for a moment, I agree that air drying for several days could be a good alternative to washing, and that re-use of medical masks should then be safe. And it seems this is backed up by the various tests done on materials and virus survival.
However the concept of...
My guess is that that is a cost issue. Insist that people MUST wear masks, and people will want to be supplied with masks. Make it voluntary and people have to source and buy their own. Perhaps?
or maybe they are just testing the waters to see public reaction?
@Invisible Woman I haven’t really worked it all out. I’m eating low carb (not quite keto as I like milk in hot drinks) so I doubt it’s to do with too much carb in my meals. Also it’s not every evening dinner. Just some. Dunno!
For me it can happen right after dinner. I’m guessing I’m using energy and water to digest the meal, but haven’t yet got the nutrient boost from the meal. Keeping well hydrated can help I think.
Hmmmm
BBC:
Coronavirus: UK to be 'guided by scientists' on face masks
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52321378
They suggest at the end masks “ may do more harm than good”.
Really don’t know how they reach that conclusion
I think unless people are required to wear masks they will make judgements about their own state, and if they reach the conclusion they are not infected, then they won’t believe they need to wear a mask.
If only those who think they need to wear masks do so, then it will effectively mark them...
However, if you want people in the general population to wear washable masks then the personal protection angle is most likely to encourage them to do so.
This is true even if the protection offered is minimal compared to the “other person” protection effect.
I have been self isolated for...
Being allowed out masked, is surely better than having to stay contained much longer?
This article says shops in LA will only serve customers wearing masks. Sounds sensible I think.

It might also be that “recovery” (however it is defined) takes longer to be sure about than “death”. So recovery figures might lag the death figures by a couple of weeks perhaps?
I have to say I LOVE this forum! Things are discussed openly, with members putting forward ideas knowing that, although problems will be pointed out, it will be in a reasoned manner. Then reasoned discussion follows on afterwards. This is how great minds should work together everywhere!

For items that can’t be washed would a conventional oven do? 60’C isn’t generally a temp that burns things. I actually put fabric I’d received from an online supplier into the oven for about an hour at 75’C. I was just guessing of course, but looks like I was on the right side of effectiveness!
I’d be interested to know this too. I saw some-one somewhere shared a study about mice with iodine on their noses and consequent reduced viral infections. Very interesting. Perhaps it was you @ProudActivist but it would seem that iodine might be helpful. Big down side is that it stains skin a...
