As I understand it, the removal of blood is not going to change the concentration of what remains.
The blood volume will be reduced of course, but it’s the concentration of the blood components that’s important.
I used Loop earplugs today when eating with my large lively family.
Definitely helped me stay longer at the table, and also be able to talk to those round me. I think they are the Engage Plus ones.
Glad to be back home now, in my own quiet space again.
Happy Christmas
I think the big problem is that peer review is done by peers!
People in any specific area of research all have a collaborative approach to taking things forward along the lines they think correct.
These are the peers who get asked to review, because the are “knowledgeable” in the area.
So if...

The rise and fall of peer review
Why the greatest scientific experiment in history failed, and why that's a great thing
Adam Mastroianni Dec 13
“For the last 60 years or so, science has been running an experiment on...
Or perhaps an association could not be established because- you know - there isn’t one. I can’t believe they don’t even recognise this as a possibility! Instead they find loads of excuses.
This quote is SO important.
Is it in a published paper anywhere yet?
Many papers have stopped short of saying this. Here’s hoping they can back the statement with the type of evidence that means that caveats will be run alongside ALL advice to exercise.
I’ve not tended to try “therapies” as such but I’ve changed up lots of things.
Diet (low carb, unprocessed foods)
Electrolytes (which I don’t take constantly but sometimes they seem to help pull me out of a dip).
Mobility aids (I now use a 2wheeled electric scooter for “walks”).
Quiet...
I too am reluctant to check one or other box. I obviously HAVE tried a multitude of different things - haven’t we all!
However, I am very cautious about what I do try, and always search for the best evidence I can find before attempting anything that could potentially cause me harm.
So...
PS
I should add that the migraines I got while taking Tenofovir were significant and a limitation in themselves.
I had been told not to take ibuprofen or paracetamol whilst on Tenofovir, as these are also difficult for the kidneys etc to process so I ended up relying on another wafer/melt (that...
Hi Chillier,
Yes I took Tenofovir. It was not cheap at the time - I think about £300 a month! I was on it for a year. Perhaps it is easier to source now at a better price?
Since that year, I have maintained the ground I gained, but have not been able to get any fitter. That said, I am now...
The point about the “maximum difference” is interesting. I’m assuming that means how much more the high activity days are than the average days.
When I was severe (in my case around 500 steps a day) I had VERY little flexibility. 600 steps was almost impossible due to the disproportionately...
I wonder how this extreme cold air treatment might compare to moderate cold water treatments?
A daily cold shower is much more accessible. And as I understand it, water (especially running water) is likely to draw heat from the body more quickly than air of the same temperature (especially if...
I think we are saying the same thing really. It is the ME that is the limiting factor.
If I was suddenly cured of ME I would do more from day one, of course, but I would also gradually test out how much I could do, and would then build fitness towards my more natural age-appropriate level...
Let’s be honest though. Even if I became fully clear of ME tomorrow, I would not be instantly returned to my fitness level prior to ME.
Ten years of reduced activity means that my muscles are now only conditioned to cope only with the workload they currently encounter. Compared to ten years...
I had one. Definitely less uncomfortable than a cervical smear!! So yes description seems right, it was certainly less difficult than I anticipated.
Though i imagine there are a few “it depends” scenarios
