The GWAS studies found that a mutation near the CA10 gene is associated with risk of these conditions, but that doesn't itself provide much detail on what the mutation does, such as whether it upregulates or downregulates CA10 in the brain.
The mutation that increases risk of ME/CFS seems to...
I've been reading about CA10, and I thought it would be useful to compile what I was reading into a mini-review, for my own and others' future reference.
This isn't meant to include interpretation of how different CA10 findings may fit together, but rather it's basically a compilation of almost...
SolveME sent a newsletter and has a page about providing funds for a couple projects, including SequenceME. I posted on the Solve thread.
This is from the email:
Is this new funding we hadn't known about yet?

Ah, I misunderstood the abstract, and thought they were saying that the SSTAE group improved compared to baseline, even though the control group improved just as much. I actually looked at the paper now, and see there was a significant difference compared to controls on the secondary endpoint of...
Did it? The abstract makes it seem like a null finding, where exercise was not useful compared to the patients who didn't do exercise. Yet they frame it like exercise was beneficial.

Thanks. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong data, or it's been updated? In the Table 1 spreadsheet file from the paper supplementary files, only some of the participants have an SF36 score at week 52. If I subtract Week -12 from Week 40 (so still 12 months, but it's the latest point where everyone...
I think because of the correlation with improvement. which provides a bit more evidence that it's the antibody depleting mechanism of dara that is relevant to improvement. Before, we knew that the more NK cells someone had, the more they improved, but we couldn't be sure that the people with...
Dr. Kaufman talks about prescribing antivirals to his patients in his podcast.
Earlier he talks about measuring antibody titers to viruses, so prescribing antivirals might be limited to those patients with high levels, though I haven't listened to the whole thing in detail.
Edit: I think his...

Maybe there's a better thread for this, but there's a post on the MadeMeSmile subreddit from a musician in Austria called Sebass:
I am 24 and finally getting better. I have been chronically ill and mostly bedbound for 2 years with a very unknown disease. Making music from my bed has taken off...
That sounds interesting. I don't think I recall discussion about how ME/CFS may be caused by antibodies specifically from EBV infected B cells, or what that could mean.
