Earth Overshoot Day: August 1st 2018

This is self-limiting problem. Well before resources actually run out they will become more difficult to get, and then one way or another the population will decline.

    What is happening ?

Tired but wired is one of the more nightmare aspects of this disease. It is also a warning light on your dashboard; when that happens things are near an equipment damage point, at least the that’s my N=1 iota of experience. That and about 30 other things should probably be in a set of...

    What is happening ?

Get some more sleep, starting NOW. Nobody with ME should sleep <5 hours/day. While doing stuff, set a timer and force yourself to be horizontal every [x interval], sooner after any activity that historically knocked you out. For me that's standing, heat, and several others. Yeah, you might...

Why has 'persistent enteroviral infection' been dropped as a research strand in ME/CFS? (Jen Brea asking)

“ There are many ways we are nonconformists to the core. :)Remember that whole Exercise is good for you thing?” What’s your point here? Exercise is required for normal health, until the most recent five seconds in history what we call exercise was a constant of human existence. We are not...

Action for ME have "reworked our treatment and symptom management page" and "updated our pages on GET and CBT"

People are an odd bunch. Once in a while you find a thief with more honor than the average joe, especially when most of society as a bad lot. But usually not. Alt med means absolutely anything that you want to package and sell as medicine, which may occasionally include actual medicine. We...

Ex-Reporter Prevails In ERISA Suit Against Prudential

@Diwi9. With ERISA, the insurance company does not need to blame anyone. They can simply not pay, and wait out the claimant. There’s no penalty forvmalfeasance, even if it is obvious that the claimant is fully disabled, the maximum penalty is that the insurance company pays the back benefits...

Ex-Reporter Prevails In ERISA Suit Against Prudential

ERISA is a legal nightmare, it is one of those things that no one knows or cares about until it affects them personally, and thus continues to lurk in the shadows.

Disease-causing stomach bug attacks energy generation in host cells

Dunno what toxin that is, but the CDC and Brit Nih did a fine job of shutting down M.E healthcare production without killing stuff that has a constituency. Apologies for the rant. I’m sinking, angry and frustrated.

Merryn Crofts - media and inquest

I don’t believe she’s the first to have died of this disease. Others were just not recorded, As the diagnosis is unknown to medical examiners. I spoke with Richard then Konneysberg a few years ago, and he mentioned that s young man he worked with who had dropped weight to starvation level and...

BBC: Chronic fatigue syndrome treatment 'should be withdrawn'

In my humble opinion, any sub group without either PEM or severe brain fog is not a subgroup of M.E., it is a different disease. 2. Generally feeling tired for a long period of time is not the definition of any particular disease, it is a symptom of almost any chronic malady. It’s meaningless...

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

Yeah I think That ideally there would be some consequences for a certain level of threat, but with the current climate in the USA such a facility would only used to excuse really dangerous threats issued along with viewpoints the authority is sympathetic to and punish people for expressing...

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

I have a hard time understanding this notion of vexatious comments, and why anyone would give significance anonymous posts on the Internet short of credible threats of death or rape. It’s the Internet, which brings out all manner of people saying outragous things. Look at the comments about the...

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

Sure, but there’s a difference between a funding source which funds only because they want to particular outcome, and a funding source which is at least in theory paying for science and discovery. With someone like sharpe, the appearance is that they are part of a team effort to promote a...

Gupta amygdala training program for ME/CFS, FM and Long Covid - news and discussion

If positivity is what keeps people going, why are so many scheming, nasty people still alive? Shouldn't their attitude have killed them? I will agree a touch that, all things being considered, it's best to retain or invent a positive outlook for a good part of the time. But we still have to face...

ME Research UK acceptance of Fukuda/CDC definition being used in their funded research

Without PEM, it’s a fundamentally different condition. It is possible that there is an earlier stage of our disease which does not include PEM, but that is still a different condition. Short: Definitions like Fukuda which do not include brain fog and PEM are worse than useless.

What is Action for ME's current (March 2018) position on the PACE trial?

Perhaps they have an understanding that the other branch of medicine may be a threat to their own little castle.
