Lack of fever during acute infections

I know we discussed this before but I thought I would bring it up here if that's ok. Who gets the flu or a cold? I don't know for sure if I've ever had the flu or a cold. The first 12 years never. But as ME went on I can't really say for sure if how I felt was from the flu or a cold...

Do you believe that “viral persistence” is the cause of ongoing MECFS and LC?

There are most likely some pwME who are infected with enterovirus. I would imagine that they would need many tissue samples in various areas of the gut to detect it. Have you seen the discussions on this thread

Do you believe that “viral persistence” is the cause of ongoing MECFS and LC?

Taking tissue samples from lungs from LC patients could produce answers. But I'm not so sure tissue samples(except the brain) is going to produce anything useful for pwME? Dr. Chia took gut samples from pwME for enterovirus but I'm not sure he found anything? My best friend was a...

Do you believe that “viral persistence” is the cause of ongoing MECFS and LC?

Possibly. Wouldn't the length of time after viral onset be a factor? I had all the PCR testing done 10yrs after ME onset. From one of references above (LINK) "Treatment with antivirals or combinations of antivirals and immune-modulating agents during acute COVID-19 may also prevent PASC...

A narrative review on the similarities and dissimilarities between [ME/CFS] and sickness behavior, 2013, Morris et al

I've never had a fever in 33 years of ME and I've experienced a lot of viral infections. My ME onset was a sudden viral onset, sore throat/ear vertigo. high antithyroid antibodies, strep throat but never a fever. I never had a fever when I contracted COVID 2 years ago and I was quite...

Do you believe that “viral persistence” is the cause of ongoing MECFS and LC?

I had multiple PCR tests done during a period when I felt 'viral'. Nothing was detected. My lymphocytes were well below reference range- CD8 at the lowest. The virologist was only concerned about my very low CD8 count, not reactivating or viral persistence.

Link Between Daily Sunlight Exposure and Dyslipidemia Patients – A Cross-Sectional Study

I've been taking vitamin D supplements daily for over 20 years and I'm not so sure it helps me. I haven't had my levels tested for years because they are no longer testing unless we are diabetic or over the age of 70. What I've noticed every summer is that I tend to feel much worse the day...

Herbal extract (Cervus elaphus Linnaeus, Angelica gigas Nakai, and Astragalus membranaceus Bunge) ameliorates chronic fatigue:... 2024 Ahn et al

The only herb I recognize on that list is Astragalus. It's described as an "adaptogen". I took this in combination with a couple of other herbs and it gave me the same effect as Amitriptyline that was prescribed to me by an ME specialist. I had to stop taking it after 2 weeks because it me...
