Human Herpesvirus-6 Reactivation, Mitochondrial Fragmentation, and the Coordination of Antiviral and Metabolic Phenotypes in ME/CFS - 2020 - Schreiner

Cort has also supplied the press release for the study. I'm guessing that he has liased with Bhupesh Prusty & Robert Naviaux over the study.

Resources for reading about HHV-6 & ME/CFS HHV-6 Foundation They have an overview of past HHV-6 research into ME/CFS https://hhv-6foundation.org/associated-conditions/hhv-6-and-chronic-fatigue-syndrome There links to papers from VanElzakaar, Komaroff, Montoya and others. Looks a few years...

Human Herpesvirus-6 Reactivation, Mitochondrial Fragmentation, and the Coordination of Antiviral and Metabolic Phenotypes in ME/CFS - 2020 - Schreiner

*Depends on who makes the decisions at OMF eg is there there a bias towards Ron Davis's own lab at Stanford or is it done independently. Robert Naviaux is one to the paper authors so it will be raised at the OMF at leasre *Solve ME/CFS have funded Prusty's work and he has said he has applied to...

    Research news from Bhupesh Prusty

*Another 12 minute video which covers mitochondrial fission & fusion comes from the Physionic podacst. *The author is a PhD student whose research covers mitochondria. This broadcast is more recent. (2019) *He looks at fission & fusion in terms of mitochondrial DNA. Fusion being a way of...

    Research news from Bhupesh Prusty

*a 6 minute video on mitochondrial fission & fusion. The narrator's accent makes it a little difficult to follow (especially if brain fog is bad) *Mentions signal to fuse or break up comes from cell nucleus but narrator says the reasons is unknown (at time of making in December 2012) *PS...

    Research news from Bhupesh Prusty

FWIW he's reached his fundraising target. https://uk.gofundme.com/f/gofundmecfs-support-scientific-research-mecfs Being a tease on Twitter is an unusual way to break research news, especially as he needs to replicate and check his findings. We've all had plenty of false dawns... We shall see....

Assessing cellular energy dysfunction in CFS/ME using a commercially available laboratory test, 2019, Morten, Newton et al

A couple of general points *It's good to see Karl Morten at Oxford & Julia Newton's teams in Newcastle have been working together for some time now. *Although it looks like he was wrong on this, Norman Booth did an immense amount of good for ME patients in the Oxford area. He was a stalwart of...

New poor Guardian article "ME and the perils of internet activism" 28th July 2019

A scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it. Max Planck

New poor Guardian article "ME and the perils of internet activism" 28th July 2019

Deja vu When Wessely left ME/CFS research, he complained about people contesting his work When Peter White left ME/CFS research, he complained about people contesting his work When Michael Sharpe left .. They seem to be most concerned about one thing, how history sees them.

Is it helpful for MEPedia and ME advocacy to be broadened to include possible co-morbid conditions?

Thanks for your reply. I'll have a look :) I did deliberately mention mast cells to see what would come up in discussions In my own case there doesn't appear to be a correlation between eczema symptoms & the ME ones. Diet, stress levels and the weather (sweating amplifies eczema symptoms) are...

Is it helpful for MEPedia and ME advocacy to be broadened to include possible co-morbid conditions?

Is it helpful for MEPedia and ME advocacy to be broadened to include possible co-morbid conditions? No, I have eczema (which involves mast cells) as a comorbidity. This seems unconnected to ME. Is my male pattern baldness related to ME? Other people have bad breath...a link with ME? Of course...

Biomedical articles on MEpedia - purposes and pitfalls

I was a contributor for a while but stopped as I considered whether it was worth time & energy. There were plenty of articles where individuals promoted a very subjective view instead of reporting the facts and linking to papers and articles where more detail was available.

Biomedical articles on MEpedia - purposes and pitfalls

A current problem is Jen Brea is trying to force a link between ME/CFS and CCI and using MEpedia and MEAction for this purpose. There are lots on exciting research projects going on and I'm worried that time & money could be wasted on something which is tenuous at best.

Sharpe's missives are part of his farewell tour .. The large insurance company enhanced pension looms. Peter White did the same & Simon Wessely will do it in turn.
