Pulse Today ("the leading publication for GPs in the UK"): "Long Covid: Explaining the unexplainable?"

Pulse seems to have a house troll. I recall coming across the name ot the double poster before in similar vein.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to Optimize Post-Operative Fracture Recovery (COPE): Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial, 2022, Busse et al

This is the link to the document which I referred to demonstrating the link between Cott, the then director of Prisma Health, and the insurance industry https://www.s4me.info/threads/government-and-insurance-companies-establishing-the-bps-model.2319/page-4#post-355084 Such links are of course...

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to Optimize Post-Operative Fracture Recovery (COPE): Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial, 2022, Busse et al

Somewhere on the forum I posted a document showing how Arthur Cott ,of McMaster and Prisma, was responsible for drawing up treatment guidelines to be adopted by the Canadian Insurance Association. I think it was in 2000. There were, I think, three insurance companies involved with him in the...

Long COVID: defining the role of rheumatology in care and research (2022) Calabrese et Calabrese

Hm. Parallels. So, is there no possibility of convergence?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to Optimize Post-Operative Fracture Recovery (COPE): Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial, 2022, Busse et al

How can you say he has no re;rvant experience? he must. at McMaster and Prima have worked alongside one of the leading experts of the day. Arthur Cott, for it is he, needs to be better recognised. What for is a wholly different matter.

At what point could someone with ME have somatic symptom disorder?

He is clearly an expert in the field. When asked about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, he answers in terms of "chronic fatigue". Perhaps this is indicative of the whole approach.

COMET initiative: Core Outcome Set for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis

... but didn't you only get to hear from the "Priest", who interpreted on behalf of the oracle. That sounds about right.

COMET initiative: Core Outcome Set for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis

The name COMET sounds appropriate. Do we expect it to suffer from stress related fatigue, and fall apart.

Estimated frequency of somatic symptom disorder in general practice: cross-sectional survey with general practitioners

Isn't this just Pilowski Abnormal Illness Behaviour, suitably camouflaged and given a new name. Mayo's (ed sorry ,that should be Mayou's) criticism of that in 1987 was fairly devastating. How soon we forget.

    UK Royal College of Psychiatrists

One has to wonder how this came to the attention of the BBC before the medical and administrative staff. Is the BBC the first point of contact in the complaints procedure?

Influence of Codiagnosis of CFS & Habitual Physical Exercise on the Psychological Status and Quality of Life of Patients with Fibromyalgia 2022 Ortega

It took me about ten minutes just to understand the title, being unsure whether Habitual Physical Exercise was a diagnosis. I think I see what they are trying to say, but it would help if the first sentence were lucid. After that, reading the text seemed unlikely to be profitable.

United Kingdom - Thérèse Coffey appointed Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sept 2022

They ask how we know it provides value for money. Of course it does. It was introduced by an economist, after all. What further evidence could be needed? For any who don't know, the economist was Lord Richard Layard, which takes us back to the honour system. He worked with the psychiatrist Prof...

United Kingdom - Thérèse Coffey appointed Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sept 2022

On the matter of the "Oxford comma", Neil Ferguson , in the Guardian, gave an interesting example allegedly taken from the Times: Highlights of his global tour include encounters with Nelson Mandela, an 800-year-old demi-god and a dildo collector.

    News from Doctors with ME

Just to clarify, I fully support the idea of an organisation for medical practitioners who have suffered from ME. Even if general practitioners they will acquire relvant expertise. If they accept into membership others without relevant medical qualification, and fail to make clear whose views...

A systematic literature review of randomized controlled trials evaluating prognosis following treatment for adults with CFS, 2022, Chalder

I hadn't spotted that it was published in Psychological Medicine. This was the journal founded by Michael Shepherd who seems to have played a significant role in the development of SWs career. There is a pleasing circularity.

    News from Doctors with ME

Yes, but would those cover the likely costs, given the likely membership. I think we should know whether there might be any grants made available. I am sorry if this seems rather archane, but some of us remember what happened with the MEA and Action for ME in the early 2000's. The MEA had a...

    News from Doctors with ME

Does anyone know whether there are funding arrangements in place for DwME? Presumably they started life as a small self funding organisation. This increase in workload suggests that this may now be inadequate. It may even require a remunerated position. This should certainly enhance the...
