'Activist Editor' Richard Horton of The Lancet receives $100,000 Roux Prize

I thought we knew about this but I've searched and can't find anything.
Dr. Richard Horton, the “activist editor” of the international medical journal The Lancet, will be honored June 10 in London for his accomplishments as one of the world’s most “committed, articulate, and influential advocates for population health.”

He is receiving the 2019 Roux Prize, given annually to individuals on the front lines of global health innovation in data science. Past winners include health ministers of Rwanda and Mali.

“There is virtually no policy debate in global health or priority adopted by donor agencies or international health organizations that has not first been championed in the pages of The Lancet,” said Dave Roux, a Virginia-based entrepreneur and philanthropist. “Under his leadership, the journal has become the premier venue for global health science. Richard has shaped the evolution of priorities through his weekly editorials and commentaries and through the sponsorship of myriad commissions on the vital health issues of our day.”

Medical publishing has jumped the shark.

I don't understand why the Lancet, and Horton in particular, never get any blame for the Wakefield paper. Now they are repeating an even more egregious mistake and the guy responsible for both is getting awards despite standing by the suppression of data clearly showing research the Lancet published is highly misleading at best, if not downright fraudulent.

That will look about as bad in hindsight as Wessely being awarded for demonizing sick people begging for help, aka "courage".

The whole industry has to be reformed, preferably in a way that removes the industry part and makes it a more rational and coherent process. Completely broken and clearly more political than scientific.

Searching for news on this I then found:

Richard Horton, editor-in-chief of The Lancet, who was awarded the WHO Director General Health Leaders Recognition right before the assembly’s inauguration asked participants to declare a planetary health emergency, demand gender equality as women’s rights are also human rights, invest in safe surgery, and ensure that health is a governance issue.

Horton just says the things it would be impressive to believe, but then fails to back them up. Who could be stupid enough to be impressed by him?
