Mersey Care's Long Covid Service launches new exercise App for patients

Mersey Care’s Long COVID service has developed content for an online app to help speed up the recovery of patients suffering from the effects of the debilitating condition.

Working in partnership with Physitrack, the Long COVID service have filmed a series of breathing, movement and mindfulness videos that have been uploaded to the app, known as PhysiApp, allowing patients to see therapists performing the movements and techniques demonstrated in clinic.

The team can remotely monitor their patients’ activity via the new dashboard as they work through their tailored plan, which also allows them to comment on how they feel whilst participating in the movement and techniques.

“The resources we’re making available on the app, allow us to work closely with our patients to develop a personalised treatment plan, that can address not just physical symptoms but also emotional and mental wellbeing,” explained Dr Chris Barker, Mersey Care’s Clinical Director.

“The Long COVID service aims to empower patients with the knowledge and confidence to help manage their symptoms and regain control of their health.”

Who wants to be under medical surveillance all the time? It sounds dystopian.

Firing squad at dawn for those who don't do their exercise!

Ah ok so this app is ok yet someone was only saying the other day that when they mentioned visible it was pooh poohed as something you can get too focused on
Ah, yes, focus for all 3 minutes it takes to do the morning and evening check-ins.

When you look at the excuses given out in recent years, they seem to believe that it's professional monitoring that matters. As long as they're monitoring, it's all good. Or something like it. Even though the vast majority of cases never get any because the resources will never exist for it. But it's still critical, unless people are self-sufficient.

Heads they win. Tails you lose. Don't flip they win and you lose.

C19-YRS symptom monitoring app

The C19-YRS app is recommended by NHS England, and Mersey Care has funded it for 12 months so that you can access it free of charge until July 2026.

The app allows you to:

* Monitor and track symptoms and functional abilities

* Complete clinically recognised assessments

* Access helpful resources and videos

* Generate reports that you can share with healthcare professionals, if needed.

To get started with the app:

1. Download the app for Android or Apple. Alternatively, you can access it via your browser at webapp.c19-yrs.com

2. When registering, select “I would like to register at a centre” and enter the Centre PIN: Mersey_LC25.

3. Follow the steps to complete your registration and begin using the app.

A step-by-step guide is also available.

If you have any queries and require user support, contact c19-yrs@elaros.com

So that is 2 apps paid for by the local NHS commissioners, to replace a service with an expanding clientele

It is amazing - despite wide-spread rejection of "useless" service it persists by convincing the local NHS sub-contractor that it is popular and effective and valuable.

This Merseyside version looks a bit like break-dancing on a chair, the version which won a world cup and a global outcry:
Merseyside NHS app for cancelled Long Covid service.jpg
We need an audience so we can tell ill people to breathe, to move, be mindful, practice being, and how, but we found it necessary to do this from a safe distance. We know our locals

And we only enlighten people who are well enough to use an app. No we do not hand out I-Phones, but if you can use an app then you are well enough to be recovered, however if you are too ill to use an app then .....(redacted, there is no alternative, the NHS is not a bottomless pocket, take back the Falklands... dit..dit..dit)
