https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-everything-you-need-to-know Not too bad i thought. Of course not perfect but I thought it pretty reasonable in comparison to many media articles. At least it's tone is reasonably respectful/sympathetic to the sufferer. Edited to add... actually we've decided it's not great so maybe consider not bothering clicking through & giving them views
It was ok but what I don’t like is the fact that when you click through on the debilitating symptoms link it takes you to another article on anxiety and depression....good on the face of it ...but I would have preferred a link to something that explains it properly.
yes i actually didn't notice that. I thought i'd clicked on all the links, but actually It also links to an article about 'attitude' on the rehabilitation link. There is a totally inappropriate & frustrating TATT link too. I obviously didn't check the links very thoroughly the first time around. It's a shame. As you say good on the surface but the links let it down a lot. Sometimes i think i'm so prepared for horrendous, that i feel grateful for merely 'not good' as far as the media is concerned
Yes we should have some kind of media awards ....”and this years award for mediocre article with only a bit of misleading information and disparagement goes to’ ......opens envelope
Haven't read much of it, but it starts out good at least? Most people don't read past the ingress anyway
Yeah, it's pretty so-so. Reading that, its focus on rehab and unexplained symptoms makes it sound like a stress-related illness more than anything. But maybe we're just more aware of the potential for BPS bullshit?
Yeah - but it's a sign that mediocre articles on ME/CFS are now much better than they were five years ago.
I also think it's fine to post these things. Let a few people have a look see and if mediocre or worse the rest of us can ignore and refuse the site any more clicks which only seem to encourage more of the same.
It's worth staying aware of how things are being reported - it's a change to the norm that they have said about the problems. So it's good to know about any articles in major publications , whatever they say.
I thought this was acceptable for what it is. Which is actually progress from where things were, ie negative BPS style rubbish, until recently.
