BBC News covers PIP and appeals

If you didn't catch the 10 O'clock News tonight (and possibly the 6 pm one too) and can catch up with it (I think news is only available on iPlayer for up to 24 hours?), you might be interested to see the report on PIP, incorrect PIP decisions and the backlog of appeals resulting from it. More accusations of healthcare professionals lying outright in their reports, for a start. Don't know whether the BBC News channel will also be covering it overnight?

Just caught it repeated on BBC News channel. It includes the following:

Nearly ¾ of claimants win their cases on appeal

A patient with MS got 0 points and was told she had no mobility issues, despite really being able to go out only using a mobility scooter.
Her tribunal was arranged almost 2 years after the original application

A welfare adviser interviewed said that problems with the initial assessments were creating a backlog - the system can't cope with the no. of appeals

A fibromyalgia and agrophobia sufferer was turned down completely for PIP - it was implied that this was what led to her death, as she just gave up. A tribunal a week afterwards decided that she qualified for PIP. Her mother successfully sued Capita for maladministration.
