Rereading this, just noticed that the job advert was dated last Wed, 13th Feb.

Presumably it was posted today while the site was down?

Applications need to be submitted by 28th Feb and it is the 19th Feb today. That is not long. Has it been posted elsewhere?

How long have things been moving at Cochrane?

Given their advert for a new Board Member was dated the 13th of February with a deadline of the 12th of March. Even that seems a relatively short period given they are seeking nominations for this post from countries not already represented on the Board.

Maybe it's already been made and publicly advertising the post with a short deadline is just a formality.

Do they hope people will forget and go away, or is it just that they don't care about scientific integrity?

It's the 31st today, so they have the rest of today to post it.

They did before wait till the last day of a deadline they gave for an update.

I have forgotten which this was, the Exercise Review rewrite or the Review Group that hosts ME?

Could they mean that the authors had until today to submit their amendment, not necessarily that Cochrane will publish it by today?

The author's had until today to amend the review, so my interpretation is that the publication is intended for some unspecified date in the future if/when it passes peer review, or editorial review. (At leastI'm assuming somebody will assess the amendment in some way, but maybe that's not how it works).

Editor's note is under 'What's New':

Presumably the decision should not take too long in the making (absolute maximum one week I would have thought?), and will be whether to allow the revised review to supersede the current one, or to pull the plug on it. Given how impossible it would seem for the authors to meet the 'defensible' and 'valid' criteria, I would imagine Cochrane should decide to withdraw it. Time will tell, but hopefully not too much time.
