E-readers (Kindle, etc.)

I recently bought a tablet, and decided to see if I could find the stand I used for my work iPad 11 years and one house move ago. Surprisingly, I could.

It reminded me what a clever design it is, especially as a lot of the flip cases with built-in stands only allow you to view a tablet screen in landscape orientation. Which isn't much use if you happen to want to read music from it, or a book for that matter.

I thought I'd add it here in case anyone's looking for a cheap, effective universal stand to use on a flat surface. It won't work for someone lying flat, but does if you're partly propped up and using a tablet on a bed table/tray. You can view the screen at a range of angles, from about 10º off vertical to about 20º off horizontal.

I have a phone with an ereader screen that dims really well. It's what i use to access this forum lately since my normal phone is too much.

it works great for reading although i can't read more than a page without couple min break in between because my concentration and short term memory is too low.

Boox Palma 2. Runs on android so i can do pretty much anything with it, but works great for reading comics and poems and articles. (i haven't tried books). Relatively cheap (for a phone). it's from a Chinese company. don't trust it for privacy but at this point i don't have the energy to care as much as i used to

the screen being phone sized is a big plus. a tablet sized screen would be too much for me. also it's lighter than my iphone
To update on this. The phone having a really slow CPU has actually put me off. I find it harder to use now than a normal phone because it’s really buggy.
I still use it to like read epub files but thats about it.

Seems like we have to go looking for some third party modders that have put e-ink screens on regular androids or something like that..
Me praying Open Source hardware linux phone thats usable as a daily driver will finally happen. (Luckily the chances are Me/cfs will be cured before that :sob:)

I’m hoping Framework moves into phones - I think that’s the only realistic way to get e-ink on higher spec bodies.

If only I was well I would be working on making a linux phone right now. We badly need a freer alternative phone UI to the duopoly. Right alongside it we need a tablet and ereader all running Linux with an appropriate interface.
