Call for ME/CFS sufferers on difficulties in accessing social security benefits
This is in order to collect research material for my Master's thesis in Social Work at the University of Helsinki's Master of Social Sciences programme.
Becoming ill with ME/CFS can undermine a person's finances in a number of ways. In particular, difficulties in accessing social security benefits can create challenges for the livelihood of ME/CFS sufferers. The aim of this study is to explore the experiences of ME/CFS sufferers diagnosed with G93.3 in situations where they have experienced difficulties in obtaining or have been denied the financial social security benefits they applied for.
By social security benefits I mean, for example, sickness benefit, pension benefit, rehabilitation benefit, unemployment benefit, income support, disability benefit, housing benefit or carer's allowance.
