For those interested:
On Thursday 26 October, 11.00-12.00 PDT, Dr Regina Nuzzo and Dr Kristin Sainani will give a free webinar on what a good clinical trial should look like.
I expect it to have a relatively low treshold, followable for beginners as well. I got the invitation as a student of Dr Sainani's online course on writing in the sciences, where I find her a good and enjoyable teacher. (The email said: "Come learn important tips for the proper design, analysis, and interpretation of clinical trials. It should be fun!")
The webinar will last an hour, and participants will get sent a link to the webinar a week afterwards that they can watch as many times as they like. So you can rewatch if you had a bad brain day, couldn't finish it, or want to make notes.
It will start at 11.00 PDT, which is 7 pm UK time and 8 pm for western and central Europe.

webinar summary said:Summary
Randomized controlled trials are the gold standard in clinical research and form the cornerstone of medical decision-making. Not all clinical trials - and consequently the health claims, products, and guidelines they inform, maintain the same level of reliability. Some trials yield robust, compelling evidence, while others are marred by preventable flaws and missteps.
In this webinar, Dr. Regina Nuzzo and Dr. Kristin Sainani will delve into case studies of real trials and discuss what they did well, what they got wrong, and how they could have been better. By discussing thought-provoking, real-world examples, Drs. Nuzzo and Sainani will identify the crucial aspects of a clinical trial that every researcher should know. Don't miss out on this opportuntiy to gain a deeper understanding of how to evaluate medical evidence through clinical trials.
You Will:
- Learn best practices for designing, conducting, and analyzing randomized controlled trials in evidence-based medicine
- Recognize common pitfalls in randomized controlled trials and how to avoid them
- Gain tools for critically evaluating randomized controlled trials and the health claims, products, and guidelines they support
