Yes, that was mentioned in the media item I saw. A brain tumour had been suspected, he had scans and nothing was found.

The article says that tau proteins are markers of the damage. In that case, there are ways to test the living brain e.g. this written for Alzheimers
Until a few years ago, tau and beta-amyloid levels in a person with dementia could only be measured after the person had died. Now, however, tau and beta-amyloid levels can be measured in living individuals by analyzing samples of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), the fluid surrounding the brain, and by using positron emission tomography (PET) scans and special dyes to show tau tangles and beta-amyloid plaques in the brain. Scientists are beginning to use CSF analysis and PET scans to study how possible tau and beta-amyloid interactions may speed the brain changes that ultimately result in memory loss and other symptoms of Alzheimer’s dementia.

Interesting, thanks. I do vaguely remember reading something more recently about how there was now a way in some victims of CTE to see some evidence. Perhaps that was it.

CNN: NIH cancels ‘Havana syndrome’ research, citing unethical coercion of participants

The NIH said it would end the work “out of an abundance of caution” after an internal investigation found that people had been coerced into to being part of the research.

The coercion, the agency specified, was not on its own part, but the NIH did not elaborate as to who may have forced the participation. However, it noted that voluntary consent is a fundamental pillar of the ethical conduct of research.

Havana syndrome: Pentagon gets its hands on a device suspected of being linked to it​

For the past year, the US Department of Defense has been conducting tests on a device that emits pulsed radio waves. Some investigators suspect it is the cause of the mysterious “Havana syndrome,” CNN reported. Four sources close to the case told the media outlet that US authorities obtained the device through an undercover operation. With Pentagon funding, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) purchased the device at the end of former President Joe Biden’s term. However, CNN’s anonymous sources did not specify the exact amount, saying only that it was in the tens of millions of dollars.

The results were all the more shocking because the Norwegian researcher had earned a reputation as a leading opponent of the theory that directed-energy weapons can cause the type of symptoms associated with AHIs, those familiar with the events said. Trying to dramatically prove his point, with himself as a human guinea pig, he achieved the opposite.

The thing is that even when such things ‘happen’ to these types of people somehow they aren’t surrounded by people who make them ill further by ding everything they can to stop them accessing support or things they need or things they paid into as ‘just in case’ (like insurance or other admin that needs someone well to do the form for)

So it’s not the same for them as for others it means falling into the clutches of those they’ve invited to destroy by undermining everything you need and making it hard to access short term and then long term (because they blocked recovery by believing taking away your safety net and being cruel would force you to not be ill) 4,000 times in a row.

People who have that type of personality always make sure they are surrounded by people like us and not them when they are ill.

Then think they been thru the ‘same thing’ when they went thru the opposite to what they imposed on those others (to be disbelieved and have all support removed from them) and were heroes as if its ’all Them’ because they came out better rather than being honest with themselves that them not being mistreated as they sell others should be can’t remove all the disability but at least is what is the difference in adding unnecessary disability

Having said that I do think bps inventors and propagators should be required to sign something that means they will be treated only with the disdain we get and rejection we see of those desperate to just survive in hospital before they are allowed to publish their manifestos to incite bullying or make them policy for others. If they really 'believe' it to be so helpful.

Instead even when they are proven wrong they get to claim someone merely stating they were wrong if the impact of what they did is ‘being mean’ when what they caused and incited cruelty and mean ness wise to those people just politely trying to get on the record the consequences they are responsible for are exponentially more yet we are told if it upsets us it’s in itself some sort of lack of regulating emotions to feel hurt by something intended to hurt etc.

Perhaps if one of the BPS lot got MECFS and confidently attempted to cure themselves a la Garner but ended up bedbound, it would have a similar impact as this Norwegian chaps misadventure with sonic weaponry. But I suspect that like all doctors with MECFS their authority would instantly evaporate and they would be cast out of the temple for blasphemy against the psychobehavioural Gods.

As far as we can tell from anecdotes, there are examples of this happening in relation to ME/CFS type Long Covid.

Sorry I misread your post and interpreted it in a broader sense of any one supporting a BPS approach to treatment. Yes I don’t know of any of the ‘research’ grandees experiencing ME/CFS and/or Long Covid.
