I don't know why I didn't notice just how awful the track record of this trio of authors is, and what it means for someone who advised the UK government and was handed funding to do research on something he clearly does not understand. This is all part of the pandemic minimizers and uber libertarians from the Great Barrington Declaration, behind which is a lot of dirty money.
Because if you understand enough about Høeg and Prasad, and how cozy they are with people like RFK Jr and his agenda, this is the kind of association that just reveals so much about how corrupt medicine can be at the highest levels. They are pretty much Joe Rogan of medicine, and Ladhani is just like them, and so is everyone who collaborated with him in trying to bury Long Covid under the rug.
Adding this to so many other instances of awful leadership in medicine and public health during the pandemic, and like how Wessely is forever allowed to fail upward, good grief does this just explain everything about as plainly as the influence of oil companies in dealing with climate change. Medicine is not a meritocracy. It just isn't. Some technical parts of it may be, but there is no way that the best rise in this profession. Not that it's any different from the others.
